The Duke of York, Chairman of the Trustees, this afternoon gave a Lunch for the Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace. His Royal Highness this evening opened the new extension and bathing facility at the Chandler Day Centre, Sunningdale, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the Royal County of Berkshire (Mr. Philip Wroughton). The Duke of York afterwards presented the prizes and certificates at Charters School, Sunningdale.

The Prince of Wales, Colonel in Chief, Army Air Corps, this morning received Lieutenant Colonel Andrew Oatts upon relinquishing command of 2 (Training) Regiment AAC and Lieutenant Colonel Christopher Stewart upon assuming command, and Colonel Iain Thomson upon relinquishing command of 9 Regiment AAC and Lieutenant Commander David Short upon assuming command. His Royal Highness this afternoon received the Presiding Officer, The Welsh Assembly (Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas AM).

Mr. Jack McConnell MSP was received in audience by The Queen this afternoon at Buckingham Palace upon his appointment as First Minister of the Scottish Executive. The Queen, Patron, and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening attended a Royal Variety Performance in aid of the Entertainment Artistes' Benevolent Fund at the Dominion Theatre, London W1.

The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, Peterborough Cathedral Preservation Trust, accompanied by The Duchess of Gloucester, today attended a Service in Peterborough Cathedral following the recent fire damage and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire (Mr. James Crowden).

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon received West Norfolk Gold Award holders and Special Needs students at Sandringham House.

The Duke of Gloucester, Trustee, this morning attended a Trustees Meeting at the British Museum, London WC1. His Royal Highness this afternoon gave the Closing Address at the Council for British Archaeology "Defence of Britain" Conference, Imperial War Museum, Lambeth Road, London SE1.

The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Foundation, accompanied by The Countess of Wessex, this morning attended a Gold Award Ceremony at Beloeil Castle, Belgium, followed by a Lunch. Their Royal Highnesses this afternoon arrived at Farnborough Airport from Belgium.

The Duke of Gloucester, Honorary Air Commodore, No. 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron, Royal Auxiliary Air Force, this afternoon attended the Honorary Air Commodore's Annual Lunch at Swire House, Buckingham Gate, London SW1.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Sense - the National Deafblind and Rubella Association, this morning opened a Community Home at 35-37 Britannia Road, Kingswood, Bristol, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire (Mr. Henry Elwes). Her Royal Highness later visited Knowle West Health Park, Downton Road, Knowle, Bristol, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City and County of Bristol (Mr. James Tidmarsh). The Princess Royal this afternoon opened the renovated extension to Bristol Central Library, College Green, Bristol.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex this afternoon departed Farnborough Airport for Antwerp, Belgium. His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award International Foundation, accompanied by Her Royal Highness, this evening attended a Dinner in Brasschaat in support of the World Fellowship and Benelux Foundation.
