The Queen held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning. Her Majesty this afternoon opened the new Blue Cross Animal Hospital, Hugh Street, London SW1, and was received by the President (Dr. Alastair Porter) and the Lord Mayor of Westminster (Councillor Harvey Marshall). The Queen, escorted by Miss Jessica Gower (Chief Veterinary Surgeon), toured the Hospital and met staff, supporters and clients. The Rt. Hon. Tony Blair MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of Her Majesty this evening. The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this evening gave a Charter Founder Member's Dinner at Buckingham Palace. Mrs. Christian Adams has succeeded the Hon. Mary Morrison as Lady in Waiting to The Queen.

The Duke of Kent this morning visited the Woodhouse Centre for the employment of elderly and disabled people, Hoskins Road, Oxted, and was received by Mr. Richard Stilgoe (Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey). His Royal Highness later visited HQ 150 Recovery Company REME (V), Linkfield House, Redhill, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey (Mrs. Timothy Goad). The Duke of Kent this afternoon visited Oakwood School, Balcombe Road, Horley, Surrey, viewed displays by students from schools in the Surrey Science and Technology Regional Organisation and Young Entrepreneurs, and opened the School Maze.

The Duke of Gloucester, President, Cancer Research Campaign, accompanied by The Duchess of Gloucester, this evening attended a performance of My Fair Lady at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London WC2.

The Princess Royal, President, Save the Children Fund, this evening attended a BT Global Challenge Reception at Westminster Boating Base, Dinorvic Wharf, Grosvenor Road, London SW1.

The Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall, this morning chaired a meeting of the Prince's Council.

The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon attended a Lunch at the City and Guilds of London Institute, 1 Giltspur Street, London EC1, to celebrate His Royal Highness's Fifty Years as President. The Queen was represented by Mrs. Christopher Fagan (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Lord Lucas of Chilworth (formerly Lord in Waiting) which was held in St. Peter's Church, Stockbridge, Hampshire, this afternoon.

The Princess Royal, Patron, Minchinhampton Centre for the Elderly, this morning opened the Christmas Fayre at the Market House, the High Street, Minchinhampton, and was received by Mr. Rudi Springer (Deputy Lieutenant of Gloucestershire).

Princess Alexandra, Patron, this evening attended the CancerBACUP "Odyssey" Ball at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Hyde Park Corner, London W1.

The Duke of Kent, President, Royal Institution of Great Britain, this evening chaired a discourse by Dr. Brian Gardiner entitled "the Ozone Hole: Did we learn our lesson?", followed by Dinner at 21 Albemarle Street, London W1.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning attended a College and Chapel of St. George Fabric Advisory Committee Meeting at Windsor Castle.
