The Earl of Wessex, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon held a Meeting.

The Duke of Edinburgh this afternoon visited the Brompton Bicycle Limited Factory, Lionel Road South, Brentford, Middlesex, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir David Brewer).

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, this evening departed Heathrow Airport, London, for Seychelles and Mauritius. Mrs. William Nunneley and Captain Nicholas Wright RN are in attendance.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning departed Oman for the United Kingdom at the conclusion of the State Visit. The Sultan of Oman was present at Muscat International Airport and bade farewell to Her Majesty and His Royal Highness. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, attended by the Rt. Hon. William Hague MP (Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs), the Hon. Mrs. Whitehead, Mrs. Michael Gordon Lennox, the Rt. Hon. Christopher Geidt, Mr. Doug King, Mrs. Mark Anderson, Surgeon Captain David Hett RN, Group Captain Timothy Hewlett, Lieutenant Colonel Charles Richards and Brigadier Sir Miles Hunt-Davis.arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, this afternoon and were received at the Airport by the Earl Peel (Lord Chamberlain).

Next week, the FIFA Executive Committee decides which country is to host the 2018 FIFA World Cup Finals. I am asking you, the Nation’s millions of football fans, to back the Bid, as you have done brilliantly so far. The Football Association have put together a superb campaign, and I am honoured to have played a small part in it. Next week in Zurich will be its culmination and, personally, I am confident that our Bid will make you proud.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Garden Party given by Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman (His Excellency Mr. Noel Guckian) at the Residence in Muscat. Sir Erik Bennett was received by The Queen this afternoon when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness this afternoon viewed a Horse Show at the Royal Cavalry, Muscat, and were received by The Sultan of Oman and the Commander of the Royal Cavalry (Brigadier Abdul Razak Alzhahwarzi). The Queen invested The Sultan of Oman with the Royal Victorian Chain this evening.

The Duke of Kent, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys), and The Duchess of Kent were represented by Major General Charles Ramsay (formerly Commanding Officer) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Major Henry Callander which was held in Cannongate Kirk, Edinburgh, this morning.

The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited the Wheels Project, 31/32 Bonville Road, Brislington, Bristol, to mark their Thirtieth Anniversary and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the County and City of Bristol (Mrs. John Prior). His Royal Highness, Honorary Air Marshal and Honorary Air Commodore, No. 501 (County of Gloucester) Squadron Royal Auxiliary Air Force, later attended a Service of Commemoration for the Polish pilots who fought during the Battle of Britain, at the Polish Roman Catholic Church, Cheltenham Road, Bristol. The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon visited Cote House, Cote Drive, Westbury on Trym, and subsequently officially opened Katherine House for Cote Charity.

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps, today visited 23 Pioneer Regiment Royal Logistic Corps at St. David's Barracks, London Road, Bicester, Oxfordshire.
