The Countess of Wessex, as Chair of the Women’s Network Forum, attended an evening hosted by EY to further the objectives of the WNF to improve gender equality and gender balance in the workplace.
The evening was attended by senior business leaders who are in a position to influence change, accompanied by their teenage daughters who were given the opportunity to meet and engage with women in different roles and industries and to explore their own career possibilities.
The Countess is the founder and chair of The Duke of Edinburgh's Award Women's Network Forum (WNF), which provides an opportunity for senior leaders from a variety of UK companies to discuss the challenges and issues businesses face in attracting, developing, retaining and advancing women in the workplace.
Addressing the audience, Her Royal Highness, who has a teenage daughter herself, said:
“I really want all of you here tonight to grasp this chance with both hands. You will find that every female leader is open and wanting to help you. I want you to go home thinking WOW I am inspired to learn more and to pursue my dream job, but also keep my options open.”
Around 30 students were in attendance, including those involved in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and EY Foundation’s Young Women Network.
