Buckingham Palace

The King today received the Hon. Mrs. Susan Leyden (daughter of the Lord Hunt), Mr. Peter Hillary (son of Sir Edmund Hillary) and Mr. Jamling Norgay (son of Mr. Tenzing Norgay) to mark the Seventieth Anniversary of the Ascent of Mount Everest.

The following were received in audience by The King and kissed hands upon their appointment as His Majesty's Ambassadors: Ms. Fiona Blyth (Mongolia, Mr. Nicholas Bowler (the Kyrgyz Republic), Mr. Edward Hobart (the United Arab Emirates) and Mr. Michael Nithavrianakis (the Republic of Somalia).

Mrs. Bowler, Mrs. Suzanna Hobart and Mrs. Nithavrianakis were also received by His Majesty.

The King and Queen this afternoon held a Reception at Buckingham Palace to celebrate "Windrush: a Pioneering Generation" to mark the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the Landing of HMT EMPIRE WINDRUSH at the Port of Tilbury.

The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were present.

The King unveiled portraits of Windrush elders commissioned by His Majesty.

The King held a Council at 4.30 p.m..

There were present: the Rt. Hon.Penelope Mordaunt MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Stephen Barclay MP (Secretary of State for Health and Social Care), the Rt. Hon. The Queen this afternoon named the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment's new Drum Horse, "Juno", at Clarence House.

Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief, Royal Australian Corps of Military Police, this afternoon received Colonel Ruth Weir (Head of Corps).

The Queen, President, later attended a Garden Party at Marlborough House, London SW1, to mark the Thirtieth Anniversary of Bees for Development.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

Her Royal Highness, on behalf of His Majesty, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this afternoon.

The Lord Harlech (Lord in Waiting) was present at Royal Air Force Northolt this afternoon upon the Arrival of The President of the Portuguese Republic and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The King.

Buckingham Palace

The King this afternoon presented Honours at Buckingham Palace to former and serving members of the Royal Household who were recognised in the Honours List on the Demise of Queen Elizabeth II.

His Majesty later held a Reception for United Kingdom Heads of Mission at St. James's Palace.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

St. James's Palace

The Princess Royal, Chairman, International Olympic Committee Members Election Commission, this morning held a Members Election Commission Meeting.

Kensington Palace

The Prince of Wales, Patron, Centrepoint, this morning opened Reuben House housing development, 54 Lugard Road, London SE15, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Sir Kenneth Olisa).

His Royal Highness, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this afternoon held a Meeting with Dr. Jayne Brady (Head of Civil Service, Northern Ireland) via telephone.

The Prince of Wales, President, United for Wildlife, with The Duchess of Edinburgh this evening attended a screening of "Rhino Man" at Battersea Power Station, London SW11.

The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of the Prince and Princess of Wales, this morning held an Early Years Meeting at Windsor Castle.

Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester this morning officially opened Amble Bord Waalk Trail, the Braid, Amble, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Northumberland (the Duchess of Northumberland).

His Royal Highness afterwards visited Barter Books, Alnwick Station, Alnwick.

The Duke of Gloucester later visited Aln Valley Railway Trust, Lionheart Enterprise Park, Lionheart Railway Station, Alnwick, and opened Greenrigg Halt Railway Station.

His Royal Highness this afternoon visited the Bamburgh Bones project at St. Aidan's Church, Radcliffe Road, Bamburgh.

The King this morning arrived by Royal Train pulled by the Flying Scotsman into Pickering Railway Station, Park Street, Pickering, to mark the Centenary of the Flying Scotsman and the Fiftieth Anniversary of the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire (Mrs. Johanna Ropner) and the Chairman of North Yorkshire Moors Railway Trust (Dr. Simon Brockington).

His Majesty, having been received by the Custodian of the Flying Scotsman (the Lord Hendy of Richmond Hill) and the Director of the National Railway Museum (Mrs. Judith McNicol), viewed the footplate of the Flying Scotsman and, escorted by Mr. Christopher Price (Chief Executive of North Yorkshire Moors Railway), met volunteers, apprentices and members of staff.

The King subsequently proceeded on foot to Market Place, Pickering, and met local shopkeepers before viewing medieval frescoes in St. Peter and St. Paul's Church, Hall Garth, Pickering, having been received by the Vicar (the Reverend Gareth Atha).

The Duke of Gloucester, President, the Britain-Nepal Society, this evening attended a Dinner at the Embassy of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal, 12A Kensington Palace Gardens, London W8, to celebrate the Seventieth Anniversary of the Ascent of Mount Everest.

St. James's Palace

The Duke of Kent, President, Royal United Services Institute for Defence and Security Studies, this evening attended a Dinner at the Cavalry and Guards Club, 127 Piccadilly, London W1.

St. James's Palace

The Princess Royal, Patron, the British Nutrition Foundation, this morning visited Washingborough Academy, School Lane, Washingborough, Lincoln, to mark the Eleventh Healthy Eating Week for Schools, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire (Mr. Toby Dennis).

Her Royal Highness, President, Carers Trust, this afternoon visited the new Facilities for Carers at the Carers' Support Service, the Old Waterworks Office, 1 Town Hall Square, Grimsby, and was received by Mr. Andrew Clark (Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Lincolnshire).

The King and The Queen, Patron, The Queen's Reading Room, this evening attended a Reception for The Queen's Reading Room Literary Festival at Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey, and were received by the Chairman of Historic Royal Palaces (Ms. Carole Souter), the Chairman of The Queen's Reading Room (Ms. Amanda MacKenzie) and Ms. Victoria Perrin (Chief Executive).

Her Majesty afterwards attended a Festival performance at the Palace.
