    Buckingham Palace

    His Excellency Mr. Wegger Strommen was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Kingdom of Norway to the Court of St. James's.

    The Reverend Dr. Cecilie Jorgensen Strommen was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Mr. Mohammad Nafees Zakaria was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in London.

    Mrs. Zakaria was also received by Her Majesty.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Hillier was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief of the Air Staff.

    Her Majesty gave a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening to celebrate the work of local faith and belief groups in promoting community cohesion.

    The Duchess of Gloucester was present.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by the Earl Peel (Lord Chamberlain) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Work of the Baroness Trumpington (formerly Baroness in Waiting) which was held in St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, today.

    The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall were represented by the Marquess of Salisbury KG.

    The Princess Royal was represented by the Hon. Dame Shân Legge-Bourke.

    The Duke and Duchess of Kent were represented by Mr. Nicholas Marden.

    Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by Major Charles Macfarlane.

    The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, President, The Prince's Trust, this afternoon held a Meeting at Dumfries House, Cumnock, Ayrshire.

    His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Trustees' Meeting for The Prince of Wales's Charitable Foundation.

    The Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay, President, The Prince's Trust, this evening held a Dinner at Dumfries House for The Prince's Trust International.

    The Duchess of Rothesay this afternoon visited Horseback UK, South Ferrar, near Dinnet, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Aberdeenshire (Mr. James Ingleby).

    Her Royal Highness, President, the Maggie Keswick Jencks Cancer Caring Centres Trust, later visited Maggie's Aberdeen, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Elizabeth Montgomerie Building, Westburn Road, Aberdeen, and was received by Mr. Gregory Poon (Deputy Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen).

    The Duchess of Rothesay afterwards visited the offices of Aberdeen Journals Limited, 1 Marischal Square, Broad Street, Aberdeen.

    The Queen honoured Ascot Races with her presence today.

    Her Majesty was represented by the Lord Armstrong of Ilminster (formerly Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life and Work of the Lord Heywood of Whitehall (formerly Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service) which was held in Westminster Abbey today.

    The Prince of Wales was represented by the Lord Wilson of Dinton.

    The Duke of York was represented by the Baroness Fairhead.

    The Prince of Wales this afternoon held a Meeting at Clarence House with representatives from the Crown Estate.

    His Royal Highness, Royal Founding Patron, afterwards held a Meeting for the Royal Drawing School.

    The Prince of Wales, Patron, the British Film Institute, this afternoon visited the James Bond set at Pinewood Studios, Iver Heath, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire (Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, Bt.).

    The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.

    The Duchess of Cornwall, The Countess of Wessex, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duchess of Gloucester, The King and Queen of Spain and The King and Queen of the Netherlands were present.

    Lady Mary Peters and the Marquess of Salisbury were present.

    The following Knights Companion were present: the Duke of Abercorn, Field Marshal the Lord Bramall, the Lord Sainsbury of Preston Candover, Sir Timothy Colman, Sir Antony Acland, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Lord Morris of Aberavon, the Rt. Hon. Sir John Major, the Lord Luce, Sir Thomas Dunne, the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Admiral of the Fleet the Lord Boyce, Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord Stirrup, the Lady Manningham Buller, the Lord King of Lothbury, the Lord Shuttleworth, Sir David Brewer, the Viscount Brookeborough and Lady Mary Fagan.

    The Officers of the Order were: the Bishop of Winchester (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr. Thomas Woodcock (Garter), Miss Sarah Clarke (Lady Usher of the Black Rod) and Mr. Patric Dickinson (Secretary).

    Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave (Secretary, Central Chancery of the Orders of Knighthood), Mr. Max Bowen (Page of Honour) and Mr. Robert Bruce (Page of Honour) were in attendance.

    The Queen welcomed The King of Spain and The King of the Netherlands as Extra Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

    Her Majesty invested Lady Mary Peters with the Insignia of a Lady Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Marquess of Salisbury with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

    The Queen later gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke of York, The Earl and Countess of Wessex, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent and Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy were present.

    The King and Queen of Spain and The King and Queen of the Netherlands were also present.

    An Installation Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon at which The King of Spain and The King of the Netherlands were installed as an Extra Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and Lady Mary Peters and the Marquess of Salisbury were installed as a Lady Companion and a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

    Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms and The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty in the Chapel.

    Mr. Dennis Rensch (Deputy Lieutenant of Essex) was present at London Stansted Airport this morning upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Colombia and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The Queen.

    The Duchess of Cornwall, Honorary Patron, Fulham Palace Trust, this afternoon attended the Fulham Palace Restoration Launch, Fulham Palace, Bishop's Avenue, London SW6, and was received by Mrs. Sandra Cahill (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).

    Her Royal Highness later attended a Bees for Development Garden Party at Marlborough House, London SW1.
