    The Queen, Sovereign of the Order, accompanied by The Princess Royal, Grand Master, was present this morning at a Service of the Royal Victorian Order held in St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle.

    The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Prince Michael of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were also present.

    Her Majesty and Her Royal Highness were received by the Dean of Windsor (the Right Reverend David Conner) and the Chaplain of the Order (the Reverend Canon Professor Peter Galloway).

    Detachments of Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty in St. George's Chapel.

    Afterwards The Queen gave a Reception at Windsor Castle for those who attended the Service.

    The Queen held a Council at Windsor Castle at 3.00 p.m..

    There were present: the Rt. Hon. Andrea Leadsom MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Tobias Ellwood MP (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State and Minister for Defence People and Veterans), the Baroness Evans of Bowes Park (Leader of the House of Lords and Lord Privy Seal), the Rt. Hon. Edward Young (Private Secretary to The Queen) and the Rt. Hon. Penelope Mordaunt MP.

    Mr. Roderick Stewart MP was sworn in as a member of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Penelope Mordaunt MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Defence.

    Mrs. Ceri King was in attendance as Deputy Clerk of the Council.

    Her Royal Highness, Honorary Member, the Jockey Club, afterwards attended a Lunch at the Jockey Club Rooms, High Street, Newmarket, and was received by Mr. Andrew Merriam (Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk).
