    Sandringham, Norfolk

    The Queen, Honorary Air Commodore, today visited Royal Air Force Marham, King's Lynn, and was received this morning at the Lightning Operations Centre by the Station Commander (Group Captain Ian Townsend). Her Majesty was received on parade with a Royal Salute and afterwards witnessed a flypast by three Tornado GR4 aircraft. The Queen moved to the Operations Room and met Station personnel and community volunteers before opening the Lightning Operations Centre. Her Majesty this afternoon attended a Reception in the Warrant Officers' and Sergeants' Mess before viewing a display commemorating RAF 100, the Centenary of the Royal Air Force. Afterwards The Queen was entertained to Luncheon in the Officers' Mess by the Station Commander. Her Majesty subsequently presented the Firmin Sword of Peace to the Station Commander, who received the sword on behalf of Royal Air Force Marham.

    The Duke of Gloucester, Grand Prior, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem, this morning invested Professor Mark Compton (Chancellor of the Priory in Australia) as a Bailiff Grand Cross of the Most Venerable Order. The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, the Lawn Tennis Association, this morning departed from Heathrow Airport, London, for Spain. Her Royal Highness this evening attended a Dinner given by the Royal Spanish Tennis Federation at Sea Grill, Puente Romano, Marbella.

    The Earl and Countess of Wessex, on behalf of The Queen, today carried out engagements in Sri Lanka to commemorate the Seventieth Anniversary of Independence. Their Royal Highnesses this morning visited the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, Sri Dalada Maligawa, Sri Dalada Veediya, Kandy. The Earl and Countess of Wessex afterwards visited St. Paul's Anglican Church, Deva Veediya, Kandy. Their Royal Highnesses subsequently visited Trinity College, 62 DS Senanayake Veediya, Kandy. The Earl and Countess of Wessex this afternoon visited the Royal Botanical Gardens, Peradeniya Road, Peradeniya, Kandy. Their Royal Highnesses later visited the Sri Lanka Tennis Association, Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha, Colombo. The Earl and Countess of Wessex this evening attended a Dinner given by the British High Commissioner to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka (His Excellency Mr. James Dauris) at the Residence in Colombo.

    The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge this morning visited Arlanda Airport, Sweden, and were received by Mr. Peter Hultqvist (Defence Minister), Major General Mats Helgesson (Head of the Swedish Air Force) and representatives from Saab AB. Their Royal Highnesses afterwards departed for Norway and were received upon arrival at Oslo Gardermoen Airport by The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway and Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway (Ms. Sarah Gillett). The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were invited to Luncheon with The King and Queen of Norway this afternoon at the Royal Palace. Their Royal Highnesses, with Her Majesty and Princess Ingrid Alexandra, and accompanied by The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway, afterwards visited the Princess Ingrid Alexandra Sculpture Park within the Palace gardens. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, accompanied by The Crown Prince and Crown Princess of Norway, later attended a Reception with technology entrepreneurs at Mesh, Tordenskiolds Gate 3, Oslo. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were entertained to Dinner this evening by The King and Queen of Norway at the Royal Palace.

The Duchess of Cornwall this morning visited the Royal Academy of Dance, 36 Battersea Square, London SW11, and was received by Colonel Ewen Cameron (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London). Her Royal Highness afterwards visited the Fine Cell Work Clothworkers Studio, Queenstown Road, London SW8, and was received by Mrs. Colleen Harris (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London). The Duchess of Cornwall this afternoon visited the Fine Cell Work pop-up shop, 41 Pimlico Road, London SW1.

    Princess Alexandra, Vice Patron, Royal Over-Seas League, this afternoon received Dr. Diana Owen upon assuming her appointment as Director-General. Her Royal Highness received the Earl of Arran (President) and Mr. Andrew Cartwright (Chairman) and Miss Lydia Davis (Chief Executive) to relinquish the office of Patron of CCHF All About Kids (formerly Children Country Holidays Fund) upon its merger with the Outward Bound Trust.

The Princess Royal, Commodore-in-Chief, Portsmouth, later received Commodore Jeremy Rigby upon relinquishing his appointment as Portsmouth Naval Base Commander and Commodore James Higham upon assuming the appointment. Her Royal Highness, Honorary Member, Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers, this evening attended a Dinner at One Great George Street, London SW1, and was received by Dr. Paul Knapman (Deputy Lieutenant of Greater London).
