The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon visited Chester Farm, Higham Road, Little Irchester, Wellingborough. His Royal Highness afterwards visited Farrington Oils Limited, Bottom Farm, Brook Street, Hargrave. The Duke of Gloucester, Patron, the Fotheringhay Church Appeal, this evening attended a Reception at the Church of St. Mary and All Saints, Fotheringhay. The Duchess of Gloucester, President, Bridewell Royal Hospital, this morning visited Barrow Hills School, Roke Lane, Witley, and was received by Dr. Karin Englehart (Deputy Lieutenant of Surrey). Her Royal Highness, President, Bridewell Royal Hospital, afterwards opened the newly renovated Queen Mary House at King Edward's School, Witley, Petworth Road, Witley, Surrey. The Duchess of Gloucester, Honorary President, the Lawn Tennis Association, this evening attended a Dinner on the occasion of the Davis Cup Tie between Great Britain and Australia at the City Chambers, George Square, Glasgow.

The Countess of Wessex, Royal Patron, the Treloar Trust, this morning opened the redeveloped Evans House at Treloar School and College, London Road, Alton, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr. Nigel Atkinson). Her Royal Highness, Patron, Tomorrow's People, this evening held a Dinner.

The Princess Royal, Vice Patron, Royal Scottish Geographical Society, this afternoon announced the appointment of Professor Charles Withers as the Geographer Royal for Scotland, Lord John Murray House, 15-19 North Port, Perth, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Perth and Kinross (Brigadier Melville Jameson). Her Royal Highness, Royal Patron, MND Scotland, afterwards attended a Reception at Airth Castle Hotel, Airth, Falkirk, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Stirling and Falkirk (Mrs. Marjory McLachlan).

    The Duke of Gloucester this morning visited the Open Door Centre, St. Barnabas Church Hall, Ferndale, Gorse Hill, Swindon, to mark its Thirtieth Anniversary and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire (Mrs. Peter Troughton). His Royal Highness, Honorary Air Marshal, Royal Air Force, later attended a Service to commemorate the Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the Battle of Britain at Radnor Street Cemetery, Swindon, and afterwards witnessed a flypast by Spitfires and Hurricanes from the Royal Air Force Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. The Duke of Gloucester this afternoon officially named the First Great Western train "Harold Starr" at Swindon Railway Station, Station Road, Swindon.
