    Balmoral Castle

    The Rt. Hon. Sir Christopher Geidt had an audience of The Queen this morning and took leave upon relinquishing his appointment as Private Secretary to Her Majesty and Keeper of The Queen's Archives, when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by The Princess Royal at the Memorial Mass for His Eminence Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor (formerly Archbishop of Westminster) which was held in Westminster Cathedral, London SW1, this afternoon.

    The Duke of York was represented by Field Marshal the Lord Guthrie of Craigiebank.

    The Earl of Wessex was represented by Mrs. Urs Schwarzenbach.

    The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were represented by Mr. Patrick Burgess.

    The Duke of Kent, also representing The Duchess of Kent, was present.

    Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by the Marquess of Lothian.

    Balmoral Castle

    The Queen this morning opened the Robertson Family Roof Garden, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Foresterhill, Aberdeen, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Aberdeen (Councillor Barney Crockett, the Lord Provost) and the Chairman of NHS Grampian (Professor Stephen Logan).

    Her Majesty toured the Garden and met members of the design and project team, volunteers and members of staff.

    The Queen, Patron, Sue Ryder Care, later visited Sue Ryder Dee View Court, Caiesdykes Road, Kincorth, Aberdeen, and was received by the Chairman of the Trustees (Mr. Neil Goulden) and Ms. Valerie Maxwell (Centre Director).

    Her Majesty viewed rooms and activities and met residents and staff, before placing a letter in a time capsule.

    By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Claudio de la Puente at 34 Porchester Terrace, London W2, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of Peru to the Court of St. James's.

    By command of Her Majesty, the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps afterwards called upon Her Excellency Mrs. Inaam Osseiran at 21 Kensington Palace Gardens, London W2, in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as Ambassador from the Lebanese Republic to the Court of St. James's.
