    Buckingham Palace

    The President of the Republic of Croatia visited The Queen today. Mr. Jakov Kitarovic was also received by Her Majesty. General the Lord Dannatt was received by The Queen this afternoon upon relinquishing his appointment as Constable of Her Majesty's Tower of London. Lieutenant General Richard Nugee was received by The Queen upon relinquishing his appointment as Defence Services Secretary when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.. Air Vice-Marshal Garry Tunnicliffe was received by The Queen upon assuming his appointment as Defence Services Secretary. The Queen, Patron, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, this evening visited the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly, London W1, and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa), the President (Mr. Christopher Le Brun) and Mr. Charles Saumarez Smith (Chief Executive). Her Majesty presented awards to individuals who have made a national contribution as practitioners or educators in the fields of visual arts or architecture. The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh subsequently attended a Reception and met Royal Academicians, artists and supporters. The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers, this morning presented The Prince Philip Award at Buckingham Palace. His Royal Highness this afternoon held a Luncheon at Buckingham Palace for the Heart and Lung Research Institute, Papworth Hospital and Cambridge University. The Duke of Cambridge, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning. The Baroness Chisholm of Owlpen (Baroness in Waiting) was present at Royal Air Force Northolt this morning upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Croatia and Mr. Jakov Kitarovic and welcomed Their Excellencies on behalf of The Queen.

    The Queen held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning. Mr. Peter Taylor was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested him with the Insignia of a Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order. The Queen was represented by the Reverend Canon Paul Wright (Sub-Dean of Her Majesty's Chapels Royal) at the Funeral of the Reverend John Lee (Chaplain to The Queen) which was held at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Chiddingstone, Kent, this afternoon.

Mr. Melvyn Stride MP was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Comptroller of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office. Mr. Kristan Hopkins MP was received by The Queen and delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household. Mr. Julian Smith MP was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office. The Baroness Goldie and the Baroness Mobarik were received by The Queen upon assuming their appointment as Baronesses in Waiting to Her Majesty. The Lord Young of Cookham was received by The Queen upon assuming his appointment as a Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty. Mrs. Meryl Walter was received by The Queen when Her Majesty invested her with the Insignia of a Member of the Royal Victorian Order. The Duke of Edinburgh was represented by Group Captain Marcus Wills (formerly of The Queen's Flight) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of Squadron Leader David Hurley (formerly of The Queen's Flight) which was held at St. Agatha's Church, Brightwell-cum-Sotwell, Oxfordshire, this afternoon.
