    Today is the Seventieth Anniversary of the Marriage of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

    Her Majesty invested His Royal Highness with the Insignia of a Knight Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order.

    The Baroness Vere of Norbiton (Baroness in Waiting) was present at Heathrow Airport, London, this morning upon the Arrival of The President of the Republic of Ghana and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The Queen.

    The Queen was represented by Mr. Nicholas Wingfield Digby (Deputy Lieutenant of Suffolk) at the Funeral of Sir Reginald Seconde (formerly Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela) which was held in All Saints' Church, Worlington, Suffolk, this afternoon.

    The Queen today visited Kingston upon Hull to mark the commencement of its tenure as United Kingdom City of Culture.

    Her Majesty arrived at Hull Railway Station this morning and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the East Riding of Yorkshire (the Hon. Mrs. Susan Cunliffe-Lister) and the Lord Mayor of Kingston upon Hill and Admiral of the Humber (Councillor John Hewitt), who surrendered to The Queen the Sword of the City, which Her Majesty returned to him.

    The Queen met Lord-Lieutenant's cadets and City of Culture volunteers and walked through the covered station area.

    Her Majesty afterwards drove to the Wind Turbine Blade manufacturing plant of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy Limited, Alexandra Dock, Kingston upon Hull, and was received by the Chief Executive Officer (Mr. Markus Tacke).

    The Queen toured the plant, escorted by Mr. Clark MacFarlane (Managing Director, Siemens Wind Power), meeting production teams and school students and viewing a Greenpower car demonstration.

    Her Majesty later opened the Allam Medical Building at the University of Hull and was received by the Chancellor (Baroness Bottomley of Nettlestone) and Professor Susan Lea (Vice-Chancellor).

    The Queen toured the building, visiting a ward and operating theatre and viewing nursing, medical and anaesthetic students, with their tutors, training on medical mannequins.

    Subsequently Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon in the Canham Turner Building by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Hull.

    The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Buckingham Palace this morning.

    Mr. Julian Evans was received by The Queen this morning upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps and delivered up to Her Majesty his Chain of Office.

    Mr. Neil Holland was received by Her Majesty and received his Chain of Office upon his appointment as Vice-Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps.

    His Excellency Mr. Igor Pokaz was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Croatia to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. Pokaz was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Mr. Lars Thuesen was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Kingdom of Denmark to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. Jeanine Arreguin Ayerdi was also received by Her Majesty.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

    There were present: the Rt. Hon. Andrea Leadsom MP (Lord President), the Rt. Hon. Karen Bradley MP (Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport), the Rt. Hon. James Brokenshire MP (Secretary of State for Northern Ireland) and the Rt. Hon. Jeremy Hunt MP (Secretary of State for Health).

    The Lord Keen of Elie, the Rt. Hon. Sir Andrew Moylan, the Rt. Hon. Julian Smith MP and the Rt. Hon. Sir Benjamin Stephens were sworn in as members of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Sir Donnell Deeny and the Rt. Hon. Penelope Mordaunt MP made affirmation as members of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Penelope Mordaunt MP took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for International Development.

    Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Andrea Leadsom MP had an audience of Her Majesty before the Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Sir Simon Bowes Lyon at the Funeral of Davina, Countess of Stair which was held at Inch Church, Castle Kennedy, Stranraer, today.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present this morning during the Ceremony at the Cenotaph on the occasion of Remembrance Day.

    Wreaths were laid on behalf of Her Majesty and His Royal Highness by The Prince of Wales and Captain Benedict Tracey.

    Wreaths were also laid by The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Cambridge, Prince Henry of Wales, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex, The Princess Royal and The Duke of Kent.

    The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duchess of Cambridge, The Countess of Wessex, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were present during the Ceremony.

    The Earl of Wessex afterwards took the salute at the March Past of Ex-Servicemen and Civilian Organisations on Horse Guards Parade, London SW1.
