Day two of #RoyalVisitIndia
Published 11 April 2016
On day two of #RoyalVisitIndia The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge departed Mumbai for New Delhi.

The Duke and Duchess met with aspiring young entrepreneurs at a GREAT event at a collaborative workspace called The Social, where they saw part of Mumbai’s thriving young business scene. They then flew to New Delhi, India’s capital city.
The Duke and Duchess began their programme in New Delhi with a wreath-laying at India Gate, India’s principal War Memorial, where they laid a wreath to honour the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives while fighting for the British Army during the First World War.
They then traveled to Gandhi Smriti, where Mahatma Gandhi, India’s founding father, spent the last few years of his life. The Duke and Duchess followed Gandhi’s final footsteps from his humble bedroom to the spot in the garden where he was assassinated in 1948, where they paid their respects at the memorial that stands on this site.
Finally The Duke and Duchess attended a birthday party for Her Majesty The Queen at the residence of the British High Commissioner. The Duke gave a speech, personally paying tribute to The Queen, and delivered a message from Her Majesty to the people of India.
