HRH The Duchess of Cornwall visited the Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl at the Imagine Children’s Festival. While there, it was announced that The Duchess has agreed to be Patron of Roald Dahl 100 -- a nationwide year of celebration marking 100 years since the birth of Roald Dahl.

The Duchess was joined during her tour of the Wondercrump World of Roald Dahl exhibition by some of Dahl’s famous characters, including Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's 'Willy Wonka'. The experience features exclusive archival material from the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre, and takes visitors on a magical journey through seven immersive worlds that explore Roald Dahl’s life, characters and stories.

The Duchess also joined in with a children's reading session, led by 'Miss Honey' from Roald Dahl's Matilda, and read an extract from Roald Dahl’s The BFG.

The Duchess of Cornwall is an avid reader and has a strong interest in shining a spotlight on the importance of literacy. Her Royal Highness is Patron of several organisations which promote and support literacy, including the National Literacy Trust, Book Trust, First Story, the Wicked Young Writer Awards and Beanstalk.
