The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Duke of Cambridge, Colonel of the Irish Guards, accompanied by The Duchess of Cambridge, visited the 1st Battalion Irish Guards for the St. Patrick's Day Parade, at Mons Barracks in Aldershot on Thursday 17th March. This was the first time The Duke and Duchess attended the parade since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their Royal Highnesses presented the traditional sprigs of shamrock to the Officers and Guardsmen who in turn issued it along the ranks. The Duchess also presented the Irish Wolf Hound regimental mascot, with his own sprig of shamrock to mark the occasion. The parade concluded with a march-past where His Royal Highness took the salute.

Following the parade Their Royal Highnesses then met members of the Regiment and their families before sitting for official Officers' and Sergeants’ Mess photographs and a photo with Irish Guards in every rank in the British Army.
