The Duke of Cambridge celebrates the 50th anniversary of Milton Keynes

His Royal Highness joined a celebratory event showcasing the best of Milton Keynes in Campbell Park, one of the finest open spaces in the centre of the town
The Duke attended a festival demonstrating MK50's themes of business and innovation, community, culture and the green environment. His Royal Highness met the founders of Milton Keynes as well as local community leaders, faith groups and representatives from the public sector at a reception in the park.
The vision and ambition of the Founders of this town is to be congratulated, as well as so many of you who have made Milton Keynes the success that it is.
Afterwards, The Duke viewed the Milton Keynes Rose – a public installation and focal point for the community, with pillars commemorating and celebrating groups and events important to the residents of Milton Keynes. At the Rose, The Duke of Cambridge joined a ceremony to commemorate the 50th Anniversary, at which he made a short speech praising the innovative thinking of the founders, and the 'very strong sense of community and belonging' before unveiling a new pillar.
