The Duke of Cambridge marks 10 years as President of the Royal Marsden

The Duke of Cambridge, President of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, visits the hospital's facilities in Sutton.
During The Duke's visit, which marks 10 years since His Royal Highness became President of the centre, His Royal Highness accompanied and supported staff as they went about their daily activities in treating and caring for patients.
His Royal Highness first visited the radiotherapy department, where he spoke with clinicians and physicists about the UK’s first MR Linac, a state-of-the-art machine set to make radiotherapy more effective and reduce side effects for cancer patients. The Duke then accompanied a radiographer during their regular schedule, which included calling a patient for treatment on a linear accelerator machine and monitoring them from the control room.
The Duke then visited the Oak Centre for Children and Young People where he accompanied two staff nurses, supporting them in calling patients for chemotherapy treatment and checking blood pressure.
The Royal Marsden is the largest and most comprehensive cancer centre in Europe, treating over 50,000 NHS and private patients every year. It is a centre of excellence with an international reputation for ground-breaking research and pioneering the very latest in cancer treatments and technologies, as well as specialising in cancer diagnosis and education.
