The Earl and Countess of Wessex visit Vauxhall City Farm

Today The Earl and Countess of Wessex visited Vauxhall City Farm to see their community engagement programmes in action, and joined staff, volunteers and members of the local community as the farm marked the start of Black History Month.

Vauxhall City Farm is one of the oldest central city farms in London and aims to provide valuable education, recreation and health benefits to their community and schools. 

This month the farm is running a programme of educational activities for Black History Month, aimed at schools in the area. The Earl and Countess met some of the schoolchildren participating in the programme and heard from teachers and students who shared stories and poems about important figures in black history. 

 

Staff and volunteers also spoke to The Earl and Countess about adapting to new measures in place at the farm since re-opening, and their efforts to continue looking after the animals during lockdown.
