The Earl of Wessex visits India

On Day one of The Earl of Wessex's visit to India, His Royal Highness visited the Indian School of Management and Entrepreneurship in Mumbai.  

After The Earl made a short speech, DICE (Design, Innovation & Creativity led Entrepreneurship) students presented The Earl with their ideas including a tool to track neonatal vitals for Asha workers in rural India and a writing software for visually impaired people.

The Earl of Wessex then met representatives of UK and Indian companies before officially opening the DICE Healthcare & Wellness Accelerator.

During HRH's time in Mumbai, The Earl also attended the inaugural session of the India-UK Createch Summit, which celebrates creativity and technology.

The Earl then visited a high school in the city to meet young coaches from The Naz Foundation’s Community Awards Programme.

Next, The Earl presented awards at the University of Bath's 'Young India Student of the Year'. The essay competition, open to schools across India, offers new students joining the university in September 2018 a chance to win a £3,000 scholarship towards their fees.

Later that day, The Earl attended The Duke of Edinburgh Awards Gold Ceremony in New Dehli. Since 2015, The Earl has been Chairman of the Trustees of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation and achieved his own Gold Award in 1986.

Last week, The Earl and The Countess of Wessex were in Sri Lanka to mark the country's 70th anniversary of independence. The Queen sent this message to  His Excellency Maithripala Sirisena, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.
