Inbound State Visit from India announced

THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
At the invitation of The Queen, Her Excellency Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, President of India, will pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from Tuesday, 27th October to Thursday, 29th October 2009. The President will stay at Windsor Castle.
Background
- The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a State Visit to India in January, February, and March 1961, as the guests of President Dr. Rajendra Prasad.
- The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a State Visit to India in November 1983, as the guests of President Giani Zail Singh. This visit included the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.
- The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a State Visit to India in October 1997, as the guests of President Shri K. R. Narayanan.
- President Radhakrishnan paid a State Visit to the United Kingdom in June 1963.
-President and Shrimati Venkataraman paid a State Visit to the United Kingdom in April 1990.
