Ireland State Visit announced

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, accompanied by Mrs. Sabina Higgins, has accepted an invitation from The Queen to pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom from 8-10 April 2014.
The President and Mrs. Higgins will stay at Windsor Castle.
Background
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a State Visit to Ireland in May 2011.
This is the first State Visit to the United Kingdom by a President of Ireland.
