The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Northern Ballet, this evening attended a performance of "Generations: Three Short Ballets" at the Linbury Theatre, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London WC2.
The Residence, Nairobi, Kenya
The King and Queen this morning visited Kariokor World War Two Commonwealth War Graves in Nairobi, Kenya, and were received by the Governor of Nairobi City County (Mr. Johnson Arthur Sakaja) and the Director General of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (Mrs. Claire Horton).
Their Majesties attended an Act of Remembrance and laid wreaths at the Memorial Cross.
The King afterwards visited the United Nations Office in Nairobi and was received by the Director-General (Ms. Zainab Hawa Bangura).
His Majesty received a briefing on the work of the United Nations Environment Programme and United Nations Habitat and met members of the United Nations and representatives from the private sector who had participated in a plenary session on the sustainable transition.
The King addressed those present.
His Majesty afterwards attended a Briefing by the Sustainable Markets Initiative at the United Nations Office.
The King this afternoon visited Karura Forest and was received by the Cabinet Secretary, Kenyan Ministry of Environment and Forestry (the Hon. Soipan Tuya) and the Chief Conservator of Forests, Kenya Forest Service (Mr. Alex Lemarkoko).
His Majesty proceeded on foot to a clearing in the forest and met young athletes participating in a running event, before undertaking a forest walk to a tree planting site and planting a commemorative tree.
The King afterwards visited Nairobi Street Kitchen, Nairobi, and, having been received by the Co-Founder (Ms. Alyana Popat) and the Head of Arts, British Council-Kenya (Ms. Sandra Chege), viewed a visual arts exhibition, before meeting representatives of businesses and organisations involved in the creative industries and content creators from the music, fashion, podcast and film sectors.
His Majesty later participated in a Meeting to discuss legacy issues, at the Residence of the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya in Nairobi.
Afterwards The King attended a Reception to mark the Royal Visit given by the British High Commissioner to the Republic of Kenya (His Excellency Mr. Neil Wigan) at the Residence.
His Majesty subsequently held an Investiture at the Residence.
The King and Queen later visited Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Elephant Orphanage, Nairobi National Park, and were received by the Chief Executive Officer of Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (Ms. Angela Sheldrick) and Mr. Benjamin Kyalo (Head Keeper of the Ithumba Elephant Reintegration Unit).
Subsequently, Their Majesties, having been received by the Director General of Kenya Wildlife Service (Dr. Erastus Kanga), drove through Nairobi National Park and were received at the Ivory Burning Site by the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife (the Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua).
The Queen, President, the Brooke Hospital for Animals, this morning visited Brooke Donkey Sanctuary at the Kenya Society for the Protection and Care for Animals, Nairobi.
