The Emperor and Empress of Japan, with the Japanese Suite in attendance, took leave of The King and Queen this morning and left Buckingham Palace.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan afterwards visited Young V&A, Cambridge Heath Road, London E2, and were received by Dr. Tristram Hunt (Director, Victoria and Albert Museum) and Ms. Anna Jackson (Keeper, Asian Department).

Their Majesties met schoolchildren from the Japan School and those from Cayley Primary School involved in activities, before viewing the "Japan: Myths to Manga" exhibition.

The Emperor and Empress of Japan subsequently met Ms. Miranda Curtis (Trustee, Royal Shakespeare Company), Mr. Andrew Leveson (Executive Director) and Ms. Griselda Yorke (Executive Producer) and watched a performance by members of the Company.

The Emperor of Japan this afternoon visited St. George's Chapel, Windsor Castle, and was received by the Dean (the Right Reverend Dr. Christopher Cocksworth).

His Majesty laid a Wreath of Flowers on the tomb of Queen Elizabeth II in The King George VI Chapel.

The Emperor of Japan afterwards visited the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, and was received by Mr. Richard Deverell (Director).

His Majesty viewed a display from the Millennium Seed Bank, including seeds collected through the Green Hiroshima Project, and the "Light into Life" Bonsai exhibition.

General Sir Patrick Sanders was received by The King at Buckingham Palace this morning upon relinquishing his appointment as Chief of the General Staff.

The President of the Republic of Zambia visited His Majesty at Buckingham Palace.

Mrs. Hichilema was also received by The King.

The King, accompanied by The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.

The Duchess of Edinburgh and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were present.

The Duchess of Gloucester and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach were present.

The following Knights Companion were present: the Duke of Abercorn, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Rt. Hon. Sir John Major, the Lord Luce, the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord Stirrup, the Lady Manningham Buller, the Lord King of Lothbury, the Lord Shuttleworth, the Viscount Brookeborough, Lady Mary Fagan, the Marquess of Salisbury, Lady Mary Peters, the Baroness Amos, the Rt. Hon. Sir Tony Blair and the Baroness Ashton of Upholland.

The Officers of the Order were: the Bishop of Winchester (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr. David White (Garter King of Arms), Miss Sarah Clarke (Lady Usher of the Black Rod) and Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave (Secretary).

The Hon. Guy Tryon (Page of Honour) and Mr. Charles van Cutsem (Page of Honour) were in attendance.

His Majesty invested The Duchess of Gloucester with the Insignia of a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The King later gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent were present.

An Installation Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon at which The Duchess of Gloucester was installed as a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach were installed as Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty in the Chapel.

Her Excellency Ms. Katerina Stavreska was received in audience by The King this afternoon and presented the Letters of Recall of her predecessor and her own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of North Macedonia to the Court of St. James's.

Her Excellency Mrs. Ismara Mercedes Vargas Walter was received in audience by The King and presented the Letters of Recall of her predecessor and her own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Cuba to the Court of St. James's.

Mr. Victor Manuel Brizuela Fonseca was also received by His Majesty.

Sir Philip Barton (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs) was present.

The Queen, Patron, this afternoon visited the Garden Museum, 5 Lambeth Palace Road, London SE1, and viewed the "Gardening Bohemia: Bloomsbury Women Outdoors" Exhibition.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The King, Colonel-in-Chief, today presented new Colours to the Irish Guards in the Quadrangle of Windsor Castle.

Having been received upon arrival by the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel (Major General Sir Christopher Ghika) and the Regimental Adjutant (Major Niall Hall), His Majesty was received on Parade with a Royal Salute and inspected the Regiment.

After the Colours were consecrated The King presented them to the Regiment.

The King was graciously pleased to address the Parade and the Parade Commander (Major Richard Trant) replied.

The Irish Guards afterwards marched past His Majesty.

Buckingham Palace

The Governor-General of Solomon Islands was received in audience by The King this afternoon.

Lady Vunagi was also received by His Majesty.

The King later received representatives and supporters of His Majesty's Coronation Food Project.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The King, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.
