The Prince of Wales visits The Solomon Islands

The Prince of Wales has carried out a two-day visit to the Solomon Islands, on the final stop on the Autumn Tour.

His Royal Highness attended a Service of Thanksgiving at St. Barnabas’ Anglican Cathedral before attending meetings at Government House with the Governor-General, Sir David Vunagi, and Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare.

The Prince of Wales then laid a wreath at the Solomon Islands Scouts and Coastwatchers’ Memorial, which honours the efforts of Solomon Islanders and Allied coast watchers during World War II.

At Parliament House in Honiara His Royal Highness received a traditional welcome and made a speech where he said:

It has long been my wish to visit these islands, having heard so much about them from The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh following their own visits, which they both recall so fondly.

At a community event focused on oceans, The Prince of Wales watched cultural performances and met local school children who have been learning about the importance of looking after the world’s oceans.
