Prince William to become Patron of 100 Women in Hedge Funds' philanthropic initiatives

Published

Prince William is to become Patron of 100 Women in Hedge Funds’ philanthropic initiatives for the next three years.  100 Women in Hedge Funds has a track record of supporting charities in the fields of family health, mentoring and education.  From January 2010, it will focus its philanthropic endeavours consecutively, for a year each, on three of Prince William’s Patronages: Centrepoint in 2010; the Child Bereavement Charity in 2011; and Skill Force in 2012.

100 Women in Hedge Funds’ main areas of focus are educational programmes for the thousands of professionals who work in the hedge fund industry; networking and mentoring opportunities; and philanthropic initiatives, which raise funds for charities working in the fields of family health, mentoring and education.

100 Women in Hedge Funds was a benefactor of Wellbeing of Women in 2008, when Prince William, as Patron of the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, also supported Wellbeing of Women.

Prince William said:

“I am absolutely thrilled that 100 Women in Hedge Funds will put its considerable philanthropic and fund raising capabilities behind Centrepoint, the Child Bereavement Charity and Skill Force.  Its support will change the lives of thousands of young people who need extra mentoring and the leadership that Centrepoint and Skill Force offer.  It will also make an enormous contribution to the Child Bereavement Charity, which provides an invaluable lifeline to hundreds of bereaved families and children every year.

“It is a privilege for me to be Patron of this exciting endeavour.  It will do so much to further the fantastic work of Centrepoint, the Child Bereavement Charity and Skill Force.”

Anne Popkin, Chair of 100 Women in Hedge Funds and Principal at BlueCrest Capital Management, said:

“We are very excited about Prince William’s Patronage.  As we learned more about Prince William’s Patronage of education, mentoring and family health charities, it was immediately clear that he was a natural partner for 100 Women in Hedge Funds.  Our members look to us to ensure that their philanthropic contributions are highly effective and provide meaningful support.  We look forward to supporting each of these great charities.”
