Princess Margaret: Funeral arrangements

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN

The funeral of Her Royal Highness The Princess Margaret, Countess of Snowdon, will take place on Friday, 15 February at 3.00pm, in St George's Chapel, Windsor. The funeral will be attended by the Princess's family and friends, and will not be a State occasion.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.

Mourning

There will be Royal Mourning until The Princess's funeral on 15 February.

The Queen and other members of the Royal Family will be carrying out official engagements during this time. However, the reception for the winners of The Queen's Awards for Enterprise, due to have been held at Buckingham Palace on Monday, 11 February, has been postponed.

Flags

Flags have been half-masted today, and will be half-masted on 15 February, the day of the Princess's funeral.

Flags on Royal residences will be half-masted throughout the Royal Mourning period, where appropriate.

Condolence messages

Condolence books will be opened at 9.00am on Sunday, 10 February, in the Lower Corridor at St James's Palace.
