300 years of The King’s Royal Hussars

In sparkling sunshine and against the backdrop of the Regiment’s modern warhorses, eight Challenger 2 main battle tanks, the 130 hours of drill practice paid off as the troops gave a faultless demonstration of drill choreography like that usually seen at the Trooping of the Colour each year in London.

It is a time for both celebration and reflection and I am glad that you have chosen such a fitting way of marking this anniversary

The Princess Royal

The Regiments’ Colonel-in-Chief, The Princess Royal, inspected the troops and took the salute from the four Squadron ‘Guards’ and its regimental Guidon or Colours, as Yeoman Warders and the Old Comrades joined the Regiment as it marched from the tattoo ground at the conclusion of the parade.

I congratulate you on the excellent standard shown on parade and for the seamless transition from the plains of Canada and the woodlands of Poland, to the Regiment I see formed up before me

The afternoon’s events consisted of a series of displays which characterised the past 300 years of the Regiment’s history. They included an exhibition polo match, a game that is very close to the Regiment’s heart and a living history re-enactment with commentary in which the Hussar’s past dress, traditions, equipment and training were illustrated.
