The Princess Royal marks 25 years of the Carers Trust

The Princess Royal, President of Carers Trust, visited Greenwich Carers Centre to mark the 25th Anniversary of the organisation and the celebration of new facilities.
Greenwich Carers Centre has strived to provide a centre where unpaid carers and those they care for can access a wide range of services and facilities. Having achieved their ambition, The Princess took the opportunity to see the Carers Trust's building which now features a spa, bistro, snug, walled garden and a suite of multi-purpose activity rooms.
HRH visited us in the early years of the organisation, 1993 and 1996, and we are delighted that she has been able to return to mark our 25th anniversary
Before leaving, Her Royal Highness unveiled a plaque to commemorate her visit and received a gift.
The Princess Royal has a long association with Carers Trust - The Princess Royal Trust for Carers was created on the initiative of Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal in 1991.
It is a tremendous boost that Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal has devoted so much time and energy to championing the cause of unpaid carers
At that time people caring at home for family members or friends with disabilities and chronic illnesses were still scarcely recognised as requiring support. This later merged with Crossroads Care to form Carer's Trust.
