The Princess Royal visits China 2017

This week The Princess Royal is visiting China to see firsthand the strong and growing links between the UK and China.

The Princess began her visit in Beijing where she was greeted by Vice Premier Liu Yangdong. Her Royal Highness will also visit in Wuhan and Changsha.

The Princess Royal, who has been been a supporter of Save The Children for a number of years. visited the Early Childhood Care & Development Service at Fengtai Community Centre. Here teachers are helping support children and their families with activities to encourage a youth development.

The Princess Royal also spent time visiting athletes and organisers who are preparing for 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics, which will be held in the Beijing.

At the British Consulate Her Royal Highness attended a reception to celebrate educational links between the UK and China.

As Patron of the Whitley Fund for Nature, The Princess Royal visited the institute of Hydrobiology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences in Wuhan.

Her Royal Highness then attended a meeting with Mr. Chaoliang Jiang, Party Secretary of Hubei Province.

As a keen rider who has represented Great Britain at the Olympics, The Princess Royal is the Vice Patron of the British Horse Society (BHS).

At Wuhan Business University, which is home to an equestrian museum and school, Her Royal Highness witnesses the signing of an understanding between the BHS and the University.

The Princess Royal then had the opportunity to visit the equestrian school to view the facilities and meet the students.

The final day of the Royal visit to China started at Yanghu Wetland Science Museum to launch the joint WWF UK-HSBC Biodiversity Project.

In Changsha The Princess Royal opened the new Changsha Meixihi Inernational Culture and Arts Centre.

Also in Changsha, Her Royal Highness attended a Queen's Birthday Party to launch the 'UK in Hunan Week'.

The week will present more than 10 activities focusing on culture, tourism, education and business affairs, to showcase the openness and creativity of the UK.

The Princess Royal then attended and opened the 'Children's Palliative Care in China – Spreading the Hope' conference.

Following the conference The Princess then visited Butterfly Home Children's Hospital in Changsha, where received a tour and met members of staff.

As Chancellor of the University of London, The Princess Royal visited Yuelu Academy to view the exhibition on women entrepreneurship, which is run in partnership with Queen Mary, University of London (QMUL).

Her Royal Highness witnessed the signing of an understanding between Hunan University and QMUL to establish a new computer science and electronic engineering exchange programme.

Before departing The Prince Royal was able to see a display of artwork by students of Hunan University, QMUL and Women from the Dong Minority.
