The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to visit Belgium

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN

It is confirmed that The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Belgium at the invitation of His Majesty King Albert II from 18th to 19th March 2003.

Background:

The Queen last visited Belgium in November 1998 to attend the ceremonies in and around Ieper marking the 80th anniversary of the armistice at the end of the First World War.

The Queen also visited Belgium in 1980 for the 150th anniversary of Belgium as a country, and both The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh paid a State Visit to Belgium in 1966.
