The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visit Liverpool

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh attend a day of engagements in Liverpool, including attending the International Festival for Business 2016, officially opening Exhibition Centre Liverpool, and officially opening Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were greeted by huge crowds at Lime Street Station in Liverpool, as they arrived for a day of engagements in the city.

The Queen and The Duke visited the International Festival for Business 2016, formally opening Exhibition Centre Liverpool and Pullman Liverpool, visiting the 'Invest Liverpool' stand and seeing GREAT campaign exhibits themed around Creativity, Innovation and Design.

The International Festival for Business 2016 (IFB2016) is delivered by Liverpool Vision in partnership with UK Trade & Investment and the GREAT Britain Campaign. The festival aims to showcase the best of UK business to the world and encourage international trade.

Her Majesty and His Royal Highness then attended a lunch at Liverpool Town Hall with local citizens. Immediately before lunch the Royal Party proceeded to the Town Hall balcony to view huge crowds waiting to greet them.

The Queen then officially opened Alder Hey Children's Hospital, visiting the Teenage Cancer Trust Common Room.

The Queen and The Duke also visited an inpatient ward, meeting the Executive Chef and members of staff and patients before unveiling a plaque to open the Hospital.
