The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh to visit Malta

THE FOLLOWING STATEMENT IS ISSUED BY THE PRESS SECRETARY TO THE QUEEN
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh will visit Malta from 23 to 25 November 2005.
Her Majesty The Queen will open the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Valletta on Friday 25 November. Her Majesty and His Royal Highness will attend other events during the Meeting.
Background
The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh last visited Malta in 1992, having previously visited in 1954 and 1967. The Duke of Edinburgh also visited Malta in 1952, 1955, 1960, 1964, 1968 and 2001.
As HRH Princess Elizabeth, Duchess of Edinburgh, The Queen also visited Malta regularly from 1949 to 1951, whilst The Duke of Edinburgh worked there during his last active appointment in his Royal Navy career.
