The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh give a reception for Medallists at the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, at Buckingham Palace.

Following The Queen's messages offering her congratulations to Olympians and Paralympians competing at Rio 2016, Her Majesty and The Duke hosted a reception for TeamGB and ParalympicsGB Medallists at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen and The Duke were joined by other members of the Royal Family, including The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, The Duke of York, The Princess Royal, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent for the celebrations.

Her Majesty was introduced to Lord Coe, Chairman of the British Olympic Association by The Princess Royal, herself an Olympian and now President of TeamGB. The Queen and Members of the Royal Family then met and chatted with Medallists, who shared the stories of their successes at Rio 2016.

Both TeamGB and ParalympicsGB both arrived at Buckingham Palace after record-breaking medal hauls in Rio, continuing their celebrations from Manchester and London over the previous two days.

Guests included gold medal-winning boxer Nicola Adams, Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds, who claimed her fifth gold medal after winning the 200m medley, and equestrian Lee Pearson, who won a gold and silver in Brazil.
