The Queen visits the Fiji Exhibition in Norwich

Her Majesty The Queen visits the 'Fiji: Art & Life in the Pacific' exhibition at the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, University of East Anglia.

'Fiji: Art & Life in the Pacific' is the largest and most comprehensive exhibition about Fiji ever assembled in the UK, including over 280 objects and works of art on loan from museums across the UK and from the Fiji Museum.

The Queen arrived at the Sainsbury Centre to a big welcome from the people of Norwich, before moving inside the centre to explore the exhibition, which includes footage of Her Majesty being given a whale tooth in 1953 in Fiji.

The exhibition includes a wide range of sculptures, textiles, ceramics, ornaments, bowls, weapons and clothing – taking the visitor on a journey through the art and cultural history of Fiji since the late 18th century.

During the tour, The Queen met Fijian students studying at the UEA and other Fijians living in the UK.

Afterwards, Her Majesty met staff, volunteers and contributors before unveiling a plaque to mark the visit.
