The Queen visits Tower Hamlets

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited East London on the 100th anniversary of the bombing of Upper North Street.

The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh visited the London Borough of Tower Hamlets today to commemorate the bombing of Upper North Street School  during the First World War.

 

TRH attend a memorial service at All Saints Church in Poplar where the funerals of the 18 children killed during the raid were held in 1917.

After the service, The Queen and The Duke visited the site of the Upper North Street School which is now known as Mayflower Primary School.

The Queen spent time looking at the school children's First World War remembrance exhibitions.

The Queen signed the visitor book on the visit to remember the 18 children who died on the site during the First World War.
