Monday 24 October
The Duke of Gloucester was in New York, where he was visiting in his role as Patron of the St George’s Society of New York (SGSNY).
His Royal Highness joined an afternoon tea with senior citizens who are being supported by the charity, which has been active for over 250 years.
Tuesday 25 October
The day started with The King’s Piper playing outside Clarence House.
The Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Truss MP had an audience of The King and tendered her resignation as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury which His Majesty was graciously pleased to accept.
His Majesty then received in audience the Rt. Hon. Rishi Sunak MP and requested him to form a new Administration. The Rt. Hon. Rishi Sunak MP accepted The King's offer and kissed hands upon his appointment as Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury.
Later, The King also held as Audience with His All Holiness Bartholomew I, the Ecumenical Patriarch.
The Princess Royal, accompanied by Sir Tim Laurence, arrived in Uganda at the start of a four-day visit.
Her Royal Highness started the visit at the Medical Research Council (MRC), Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) and London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), Ugandan Research Unit.
The Princess later had an Audience with the President of the Republic of Uganda, His Excellency Mr. Yoweri Museveni.
In New York, The Duke of Gloucester was at Lehman College to meet students who have received scholarships funded by SGSNY.
Since 2008 over 450 CUNY students have been supported by the St George’s Society, which are available to students who trace their heritage to the Commonwealth.
Wednesday 26 October
The King hosted two Credentials, with His Excellency Mr. Robert Ondrejcsak presenting the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Slovak Republic to the Court of St. James's.
This was followed by Mr. Jeremiah Nyamane Mamabolo who presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Republic of South Africa in London.
His Majesty also appeared on the ‘Repair Shop’, which was marking the 100th anniversary of the BBC.
During their visit, the Repair Shop pledged to restore two historic pieces handpicked by The King, an 18th century clock from Dumfries House, and piece of Wemyss Ware made for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.
In Uganda, The Princess Royal, as Patron of Opportunity International UK. opened Opportunity Bank Uganda Nakivale Branch at the Nakivale Refugee Settlement UNHCR Base Camp.
In Sangano, Her Royal Highness met the members of the Wenzetu Women's Group to discuss how Opportunity International has worked with the group to assist families of people with disabilities.
The Princess of Wales was announced as the Patron of Captain Preet Chandi’s expedition across Antarctica.
Captain Chandi MBE is aiming to become the first woman to cross Antarctica solo and unsupported, travelling over 1000 miles.
Thursday 27 October
The King held two further Credential ceremonies.
A message from His Majesty was read-out by Idris Elba at the Pride of Britain Awards, which was broadcast on Thursday evening.
The third day of The Princess Royal's visit to Uganda, Her Royal Highness met families in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement in Uganda, to learn more about the impact conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has had on children’s lives.
The Princess Royal became the Patron of Save the Children UK in 2017 after serving as the charity’s President since 1970.
Friday 28 October
The King was announced as the new Captain General of the Royal Marines.
The announcement was made on the 358th anniversary of the founding of the Corps of Royal Marines, which were formed on 28th October 1664 during the reign of King Charles II.
On her final day in Uganda, The Princess Royal, as Patron of Sense International, met charity representatives to pay her respects following the tragic fire at Salaama school.
Her Royal Highness then visited the ‘Safe Way Right Way Driver’ Training Centre to learn about Transaid projects in Uganda.
Safe Way Right Way’ was launched in 2013 by the charity in response to the huge rise in demand for HGV and PSV drivers.
