Monday 3rd October

On Monday, The King and The Queen Consort conferred City Status on Dunfermline in Scotland. 

“It is my hope that all those who live in, or who hail from, this very special place, will feel a real sense of pride at this latest chapter in our rich history, and that this new distinction will not merely burnish the legacy of the past but will also brighten the prospect of our future.”

Dunfermline was one of the locations to be granted City Status as part of Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Their Majesties also visited Dunfermline Abbey and said hello to members of the public.

That afternoon at the Palace of Holyroodhouse, Their Majesties held a reception for British South Asian communities.

The Countess of Wessex arrived in The Democratic Republic of the Congo, as part of her visit to Southern Africa.

Her Royal Highness met members of the Pole Pole Foundation, representative from Women Civil Society organisations and TRIAL International.

Meanwhile, The Princess Royal arrived in New York City, USA, where she visited the Headquarters of the English-Speaking Union of the United States. That evening The Princess attended a Gala Dinner as President of the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth.

Tuesday 4th October

At Balmoral Castle, The King and The Queen Consort received representatives from the Scottish Seafood Association.

The Prince of Wales, as President of United for Wildlife, attended the United for Wildlife global summit at the Science Museum in London where he delivered a speech.

In The Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Countess of Wessex visited the Panzi Hospital and Foundation, a specialist facility for victims of conflict-related sexual violence.

Wednesday 5th October

The King held and Audience with The Governor of Victoria at Balmoral Castle.

The Prince of Wales, as President of the Football Association, visited St George’s Park to mark their 10th Anniversary.

Meanwhile, The Princess of Wales visited Royal Surrey County Hospital where she met mothers, babies and staff. Her Royal Highness learned about maternal mental health and the hospital’s pioneering overnight facilities.

In Rwanda, The Countess of Wessex attended meetings with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Gender and Family Promotion.

Her Royal Highness also visited the Kigali Genocide Memorial, where she laid a wreath and signed the guest book.

Thursday 6th October

The Prince and Princess of Wales were in Northern Ireland. They first visited Public Initiative for Prevention of Suicide and Self Harm in Belfast.

In the afternoon, Their Royal Highnesses visited Trademarket and Carrick Connect.

The Earl of Wessex visited Newcastle where he met and thanked emergency services workers, including the Northumbria Mounted Police, who supported the smooth running of the State Funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth in London and Windsor.

The Earl also met volunteers and local authority workers who supported local mourning and tributes to Her Majesty.

The Earl then attended a coffee morning at Brunswick Methodist Church.

In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Countess of Wessex attended a meeting at the Residence of the British High Commissioner on conflict-related sexual violence with Congolese ministers.

The Countess then attended a reception encouraging the empowerment of women, followed by a meeting with religious leaders from the Catholic and Protestant Churches in the DRC.

That evening, Her Royal Highness had a meeting with The President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and The First Lady.  

Friday 7th October

Her Majesty The Queen Consort attended the Braemar Literary Festival this evening in Aberdeenshire.

The Countess of Wessex attended meetings with UN Organisations Stabilisation Missions in the DRC.

The Countess then officially opened Amani House for the British High Commission.

The Princess Royal, as Patron of the Wooden Spoon Society, attended the Vets Fest Rugby tournament.
