Statements regarding the health of The Duke of Edinburgh

Friday 23 December 2011: HRH The Duke of Edinburgh was taken to Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge this evening, from Sandringham, for precautionary tests after experiencing chest pains.
Friday 23 December 2011: Following tests at Papworth Cardiothoracic Hospital in Cambridge this evening, The Duke of Edinburgh was found to have a blocked coronary artery which had caused his chest pains.
This was treated successfully by the minimally invasive procedure of coronary stenting. Prince Philip will remain in hospital under observation for a short period.
Saturday 24 December 2011: The Queen, The Duke of York, The Earl of Wessex and The Princess Royal arrived from Sandringham to Papworth by helicopter just before 11am.
They were met by Mr Stephen Bridge, Chief Executive, and Professor John Cunningham, physician to The Queen.
The visit lasted for 45 minutes. Prince Philip was in good spirits.
The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall arrived by car from Highgrove 45 minutes later.
No further visits by the family expected. The Queen will remain briefed.
He will remain in hospital under observation for a short period. We have no details of the release time.
