    The Queen was represented by the Lord Shuttleworth KG (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Lancashire) at the Memorial Service for the Lord Waddington (formerly Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Bermuda, Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords and Secretary of State for the Home Department) which was held in St. Mary Magdalene Church, Clitheroe, Lancashire, this afternoon.

    Buckingham Palace

    His Excellency Dr. John Oliphant was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Kingdom of Lesotho in London.

    Mrs. Oliphant was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Mr. Papa Owusu-Ankomah was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana in London.

    Mrs. Owusu-Ankomah was also received by Her Majesty.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    The Lord Llewellyn of Steep was received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon his appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassador to the French Republic.

    Lady Llewellyn was also received by The Queen.

    Her Majesty gave a Reception at Buckingham Palace this evening for The Queen's Young Leaders at which Prince Henry of Wales and The Duke of York were present.

    The Queen was represented by Mrs. Peter Troughton (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire) at the Funeral of the Viscount Long (formerly Lord in Waiting) which was held at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Steeple Ashton, Wiltshire, this morning.

    Ms. Alison Nimmo (Chief Executive, the Crown Estate) was also received by Her Majesty.

    The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this afternoon.

    His Excellency Mr. Genaro Vicente Pappalardo Ayala was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Paraguay to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. de Pappalardo was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Mr. Said Tayeb Jawad was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. Jawad was also received by Her Majesty.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Welsh, received Lieutenant Colonel Paul Clayton upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Owain Luke upon assuming the appointment.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were present at the Funeral of the Countess Mountbatten of Burma which was held at St. Paul's Church, Knightsbridge, London SW1, this afternoon.

    The Queen was represented by the Earl of Courtown (Deputy Chief Whip, and Captain of the Yeomen of the Guard) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Lord Lyell (formerly Lord-in-Waiting) which was held in St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, London SW1, today.

    The Duke of Kent was represented by Brigadier Christopher Bell.

    Mr. Kenneth Olisa (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London) called upon the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea (His Excellency the Hon. Sir Robert Dadae) this morning at the Holiday Inn Hotel, Wrights Lane, London W8, and welcomed His Excellency on behalf of The Queen.

    The Queen, accompanied by The Prince of Wales, travelled from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster today to open the Session of Parliament.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Sovereign's Entrance by the Earl Marshal, the Lord Great Chamberlain and the Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod.

    A Guard of Honour was mounted at the Palace of Westminster found by 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards with the State Colour, under the command of Major James Colby.

    A staircase party of The Household Cavalry was on duty at Victoria Tower, House of Lords, under the command of Major Alexander Owen.

    Royal Salutes were fired in Green Park by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major James Luck, and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain Greg Hall.

    The Imperial State Crown, the Cap of Maintenance and the Sword of State were conveyed previously to the House of Lords.

    Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms was on duty in the Prince's Chamber and The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard was on duty in the Royal Gallery.

    Members of the Household were in attendance at the Palace of Westminster.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness returned to Buckingham Palace and were received by the Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.

    The Queen honoured Ascot Races with her presence this afternoon.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were represented by Sir Kenneth Scott (Extra Equerry to The Queen and formerly Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia) at the Funeral of the Lord Bridges (formerly Her Majesty's Ambassador to the Italian Republic) which was held in St. Bartholomew's Church, Orford, Suffolk, this afternoon.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Lieutenant Colonel Grenville Johnston (Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Moray) at the Funeral of Air Vice Marshal George Chesworth (formerly Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Moray) which was held in St. Leonard's Church, Forres, Moray, this afternoon.

    The Duke of York was represented by Mrs. Oliver Russell.
