    Buckingham Palace

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh this morning attended a Memorial Service at All Saints Church, Newby Place, Poplar, London E14, to commemorate the One Hundredth Anniversary of the bombing of Upper North Street School, now Mayflower Primary School.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness were received at the Church by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Greater London (Mr. Kenneth Olisa), the Ambassador from the Federal Republic of Germany (His Excellency Dr. Peter Ammon), the Bishop of Stepney (the Right Reverend Adrian Newman), the Reverend Jane Hodges (Team Rector, All Saints Church) and the Mayor of the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (Councillor John Biggs).

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were received by Church Wardens and, following the Service, met Faith Leaders and relatives of the children who lost their lives or were injured in the bombing.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards drove to Mayflower Primary School, Upper North Street, Poplar, and were received by the Chairman of Governors (Ms. Megan Hunter) and Ms. Deirdre Bleach (Headteacher).

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, escorted respectively by the Headteacher and the Chairman of Governors, toured the School, viewing activities and occupational therapy exercises, and met Governors, members of staff and Headteachers from local partnership schools.

    His Excellency Mr. Ernest Ndabashinze was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Republic of Burundi to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. Maria Gloriose Kankindi was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Mr. Julian Ventura Valero was received in audience by The Queen this afternoon and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the United Mexican States to the Court of St. James's.

    Mrs. Mariana Luiselli was also received by Her Majesty.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    The Rt. Hon. Elizabeth Truss MP had an audience of The Queen this afternoon and delivered up the Great Seal and took leave upon relinquishing her appointment as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice.

    The Queen held a Council at 5.30 p.m..

    There were present: the Rt. Hon. Andrea Leadsom MP, the Rt. Hon. Damian Green MP, the Rt. Hon. David Lidington MP, the Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP and the Rt. Hon. David Gauke MP.

    The Rt. Hon. Gavin Barwell and the Rt. Hon. Melvyn Stride MP were sworn in as members of Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

    The Queen declared in Council the Rt. Hon. Andrea Leadsom MP Lord President of the Council, who took the Oath of Office and kissed hands on her appointment.

    The following took the Oath of Office, kissed hands upon appointment and received the Seals of Office: the Rt. Hon. Damian Green MP (as First Secretary of State), the Rt. Hon. David Lidington MP (as Lord Chancellor and Secretary of State for Justice), the Rt. Hon. Michael Gove MP (as Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) and the Rt. Hon. David Gauke MP (as Secretary of State for Work and Pensions).

    Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

    The Rt. Hon. Theresa May MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this evening.

    The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, this evening held a Reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the Eightieth Anniversary of Plan International UK.

    The Queen, accompanied by The Duke of Edinburgh, today travelled by train from Slough, Berkshire, to London Paddington to mark the One Hundred and Seventy Fifth Anniversary of the first train journey by a British Monarch and was received at Slough Railway Station by the Station Manager (Ms. Alison Hanscomb) and the Managing Director of Great Western Railway (Mr. Mark Hopwood).

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness viewed a historical timeline of the Great Western Railway in the original waiting room and artwork by local schoolchildren, before boarding the train.

    Upon arrival at London Paddington Railway Station, The Queen named the train QUEEN ELIZABETH II.

    The Queen, as Sovereign of the Order of the Companions of Honour, and The Duke of Edinburgh this evening attended Evensong in the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace, East Molesey, Surrey, to celebrate the Centenary of the Order and were received by the Chairman of Historic Royal Palaces (Mr. Rupert Gavin) and the Dean of Her Majesty's Chapels Royal (the Right Reverend and Rt. Hon. Richard Chartres).

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness afterwards attended a Reception for Companions of the Order.

    His Excellency Mr. Orville London was received in audience by The Queen today and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Commission as High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in London.

    Mrs. London was also received by Her Majesty.

    His Excellency Archbishop Edward Joseph Adams was received in audience by The Queen and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Apostolic Nuncio from the Holy See to the Court of St. James's.

    Sir Simon McDonald (Permanent Under-Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs) was present.

    Her Majesty, Colonel-in-Chief, Adjutant General's Corps, received Colonel Frances Castle (Colonel) and other representatives of the Corps to mark its Twenty Fifth Anniversary.

    The Duke of Edinburgh, Honorary Air Commodore, Royal Air Force Northolt, this morning received Group Captain Michael Carver upon assuming his appointment as Station Commander.

    His Royal Highness, Honorary Member, Smeatonian Society of Civil Engineers, this evening attended a Dinner at One Great George Street, London SW1.

    The Governor of Western Australia (the Hon. Kerry Sanderson) was received by The Queen today.

    The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassadors: Miss Josephine Gauld (Republic of Cote d'Ivoire), Mr. Robin Ord-Smith (Kyrgyz Republic), the Hon. Alice Walpole (Republic of Mali and non-resident Ambassador of the Republic of Niger) and Mr. Thomas Reilly (Kingdom of Morocco and non-resident Ambassador to the Islamic Republic of Mauritania).

    Ms. Severine Chappaz and Mrs. Reilly were also received by Her Majesty.

    The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust, this evening held a Reception at The Queen's Gallery, Buckingham Palace.

    The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment (King's, Lancashire and Border), today received Lieutenant Colonel George Maund upon relinquishing his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 1st Battalion and Lieutenant Colonel Robert Driver upon assuming the appointment, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Singleton upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 2nd Battalion, and Lieutenant Colonel Justin Tancrel upon assuming his appointment as Commanding Officer of the 4th Battalion.

    Brigadier Peter Rafferty (Colonel) was present.

    Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe was received by Her Majesty upon relinquishing his appointment as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

    The Duke of Kent, Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy and The Duchess of Gloucester were present.

    Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

    The Bands of the Scots Guards and The Queen's Division played selections of music during the afternoon.

    The Queen was represented by the Very Reverend John Cairns (formerly Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland) at the Funeral of the Reverend Kenneth MacVicar (Extra Chaplain to The Queen in Scotland) which was held at Kenmore Parish Church, Kenmore, Perthshire, this afternoon.

    The Queen this afternoon attended a Luncheon at Drapers' Hall, Throgmorton Avenue, London EC2, to celebrate the Seventieth Anniversary of Her Majesty's appointment as a Freeman and was received by the Lord Mayor, Locum Tenens (Sir David Wotton) and the Master (Mr. William Charnley).

    The Queen was elected to the Court and met Wardens and Court Assistants.

    The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, London Youth, this afternoon held a Reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the Charity's One Hundred and Thirtieth Anniversary.
