    Buckingham Palace

    The Queen, Colonel-in-Chief, Scots Guards, accompanied by The Duke of Kent, Colonel, was received this afternoon in the Bow Room at Buckingham Palace by the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel (Brigadier Henry Nickerson) and Major James Kelly (Regimental Adjutant), before moving to the Terrace Steps and being received with a Royal Salute.

    Her Majesty and His Royal Highness then, separately, inspected the Regiment.

    The Queen subsequently presented New Colours to the 1st Battalion and F Company Scots Guards in the garden before being graciously pleased to address the Regiment and the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel replied.

    The Scots Guards afterwards marched past The Queen and The Duke of Kent.

    His Royal Highness, Colonel, Scots Guards, was present subsequently at an Afternoon Party for the Regiment in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

    The Bands of the Scots Guards and the Grenadier Guards played selections of music during the afternoon.

    The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Pakistan Society, this evening attended a Dinner given by the Rt. Hon. the Lord Mayor at the Mansion House, London EC4, to mark the Seventieth Anniversary of the founding of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

    Ms. Cressida Dick was received by The Queen today upon her appointment as Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis.

    The following were received in audience by The Queen and kissed hands upon their appointment as Her Majesty's Ambassadors: Mrs. Sharon Campbell (non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Haiti) and Mr. Christopher Campbell (Dominican Republic), Mr. Iain Lindsay (Republic of Hungary) and Mr. James Thornton (Plurinational State of Bolivia).

    Mrs. Lindsay and Mrs. Thornton were also received by Her Majesty.

    Ms. Joanne Lomas was received in audience by The Queen upon her appointment as British High Commissioner to the Republic of Namibia.

    Mr. Christopher Finucane was also received by Her Majesty.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

    His Royal Highness, Patron, Chartered Management Institute, this evening attended the President's Dinner at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, London SW1.

    By command of The Queen, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon Her Excellency Mrs. Joyce Kakuramatsi Kikafunda at Uganda House, 58-59 Trafalgar Square, London WC2, this morning in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as High Commissioner for the Republic of Uganda in London.

    The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh were represented by Major John Rodwell (formerly Standard Bearer of Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms) at the Memorial Service for Major Sir Fergus Matheson of Matheson, Bt. (formerly Standard Bearer of Her Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms) which was held in the Guards Chapel, Wellington Barracks, Birdcage Walk, London SW1, this afternoon.

    The Duchess of Cornwall was represented by the Lady Glenconner.
