The Queen was joined by The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duchess of Cambridge at the Eden Project in Cornwall to celebrate The Big Lunch.

The Big Lunch is a community project led by The Eden Project, which is celebrated across the UK and Commonwealth. It aims to bring together neighbours and communities through food and fun.

Looking ahead to The Big Jubilee Lunch

To mark one year until The Big Jubilee Lunch, part of Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations, an extra special lunch was held at The Eden Centre.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses met guests who had been nominated for the work and support they have given to their community in Cornwall over the past year.

The Duchess of Cornwall is Patron of The Big Lunch, which was established in 2009, and has attended community get-togethers across the UK and the Commonwealth.

Her Majesty and Their Royal Highnesses viewed the ‘Land of Little Lunches’ a scale model of Big Lunch events that have been held in recent years and were invited to add a personalised miniature figurine to the scene.

Big Little Lunches

While The Queen and The Duchess of Cornwall interacted with lunch guests, The Duchess of Cambridge was introduced to Eden’s Create a Buzz project.

Create a Buzz aims to encourage children to play outdoors and interact with nature, a cause Her Royal Highness has long supported.

The lunch was rounded off with the cutting of a cake by Her Majesty!
