The Countess of Wessex visits Portesbury School

The Countess of Wessex visited Portesbury School in Camberley to officially open the new, purpose built premises. Portesbury caters for children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties, something HRH supports through her work with Mencap and the National Autistic Society.
The Countess toured the school and was given an overview by the head teacher Mathew Sartin. The Countess visited the Sensory Studio, a high tech multi-sensory environment for children with profound and multiple learning difficulties, and the Hydro Pool where she heard about the benefits of hydrotherapy for pupils with limited mobility.
Her Royal Highness joined in with a singing assembly in the school hall before continuing her tour, seeing the specialist food tech, music and art and DT rooms, before unveiling a plaque to formally open the premises. Before departing The Countess was presented with a posy by 8 year old Lewis, a member of the School Council.
