Edgar Atheling (r. Oct - Dec 1066)

Edgar the Atheling was a grandson of Edmund II Ironside and a great-grandson of Ethelred 'The Unready'. After the death of Harold at the Battle of Hastings, the Witan elected Edgar, the last of the line of Cerdic, as King. Within a few weeks, however, he had to submit to William I.
