The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The King, and The Princess of Wales gave an Afternoon Party in the garden of Buckingham Palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were present.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen-at-Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty.

The Bands of the Irish Guards and the Royal Air Force Regiment played selections of music during the afternoon.

The Princess Royal this morning attended a Deaf Celebration Day at 1 Douglas Avenue, Exmouth, to mark the Two Hundredth Anniversary of the Royal Deaf Education Trust and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Devon (Mr. David Fursdon).

Her Royal Highness this afternoon visited the University of Exeter, St. Luke's Campus, Heavitree Road, Exeter, to accept an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Laws.

The Prince of Wales today visited the Secret Intelligence Service in London.

Buckingham Palace

The King, Sovereign of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George, this morning attended the Service of the Order in St. Paul's Cathedral.

Having been received on arrival at the steps of St. Paul's Cathedral by Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley (the Rt. Hon. the Lady Mayor), His Majesty was received at the West Door by the Dean and Chapter of St. Paul's.

The Duke of Kent (Grand Master of the Order) was present.

The following Officers of the Order were on duty: the Bishop of Birmingham (Prelate), the Baroness Ashton of Upholland (Chancellor), Dame Karen Pierce (Registrar), Sir Mark Lyall Grant (King of Arms), Sir Jonathan Taylor (Gentleman Usher of the Blue Rod), the Dean of St. Paul's (Dean) and Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave (Deputy Secretary).

Her Majesty, Patron, The Queen's Reading Room and the National Literacy Trust, this afternoon gave a Tea at Clarence House.

By command of The King, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Dr. Mohammad Faisal at 35-36 Lowndes Square, London SW1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in London.

By command of His Majesty, the Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps afterwards called upon Her Excellency Ms. Katerina Stavreska at 64-65 Vincent Square, London SW1, in order to bid farewell to Her Excellency upon relinquishing her appointment as Ambassador from the Republic of North Macedonia to the Court of St. James's.

Her Royal Highness, Patron, the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureaux, this afternoon opened the Milton Keynes Bureau, 8 Clarendon Drive, Wymbush, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire (the Countess Howe).

The Princess Royal, Colonel-in-Chief, Intelligence Corps, this evening attended a Dinner at the Worshipful Company of Painter-Stainers, Painters' Hall, 9 Little Trinity Lane, London EC4.

His Excellency Mr. Fabio Cassese was received in audience by The King and presented the Letters of Recall of his predecessor and his own Letters of Credence as Ambassador from the Italian Republic to the Court of St. James's.
