The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Royal Grammar School Newcastle, Eskdale Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, to mark the School's Quincentenary and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Ms. Lucy Winskell).
His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon met young people participating in the Award at Teesdale Community Resources Hub, Shaw Bank, Barnard Castle, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham (Mr. Michael Butterwick).
The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Production Guild of Great Britain, later visited Production Park, Lidgate Crescent, South Kirkby, Pontefract, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire (Professor Adeeba Malik).

Mr. Daniel Jarvis MP was sworn in as a member of His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.
The Rt. Hon. Daniel Jarvis MP received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Defence, took the Oath of Office and kissed hands on appointment.
Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.
The Rt. Hon. Sir Clive Alderton (Principal Private Secretary to Their Majesties) was in attendance.
The Rt. Hon. Sir Alan Campbell MP had an audience of His Majesty before the Council.
The King, accompanied by The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent, today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.
The Duchess of Edinburgh and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were present.
The Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell and the Lord Burnett of Maldon were present.
The following Knights Companions were present: the Duke of Abercorn, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Rt. Hon. His Majesty invested the Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell, and the Lord Burnett of Maldon with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
The King later gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent were present.

An Installation Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon at which the Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell and the Lord Burnett of Maldon were installed as Knights Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.
His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty in the Chapel.

The Princess Royal, President, The Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conferences, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening held a Seventieth Anniversary Dinner at St. James's Palace.
Buckingham Palace
His Majesty was present at The King's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade this morning at which The King's Colour of 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards was Trooped.
The King was accompanied by The Queen (Colonel, Grenadier Guards), The Duke of Edinburgh (Colonel, Scots Guards), The Prince of Wales (Colonel, Welsh Guards), The Princess of Wales (Colonel, Irish Guards) and The Princess Royal (Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).
His Majesty was attended by Lieutenant General Sir Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Colonel, The Life Guards), Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall (Colonel, Coldstream Guards), Major General Simon Brooks-Ward (Honorary Colonel, The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery) and Major General James Bowder (Major General Commanding Household Division).
The Lord Ashton (Master of the Horse), Colonel Erica Bridge, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave, (Mounted Equerries in Waiting), Colonel Edwyn Launders, Captain Hamish Kelway-Bamber (Dismounted Equerries in Waiting) and Brigadier Rupert Evetts (The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons, Silver Stick in Waiting) were in attendance.

The Procession was led by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Foinette, Coldstream Guards (Brigade Major Household Division).
The troops on Parade, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Spencer-Smith, Grenadier Guards (Field Officer in Brigade Waiting), received The King with a Royal Salute.
The Princess of Wales, with Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales, The Duchess of Edinburgh, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and other Members of the Royal Family drove to Horse Guards Parade and witnessed The King's Birthday Parade.
On the conclusion of the Parade, His Majesty drove in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of The King's Guard, preceded by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Luke Wadman, the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry, the Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, under the command of Major Jeremy Bushell (The Life Guards), and the Massed Bands of the Guards Division.
On arrival at Buckingham Palace, The King's Guard entered the Forecourt and formed up opposite the Old Guard, the remaining Guards marching past His Majesty. The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment and The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery ranked past The King.
His Majesty, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Wing Commander Andrew Watson, to mark the official celebration of The King's Birthday.
Royal Salutes were fired today by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain Steven Warner.
The King and Queen were represented by the Duke of Abercorn KG at the Funeral of the Lady Pamela Hicks (former Lady in Waiting to The late Queen) which was held at St. Bartholomew's Church, Brightwell Baldwin, Oxfordshire, this afternoon.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, and The Duke of Kent, were represented by the Lady Helen Taylor.
The Princess Royal was represented by the Lady Susan Hussey.
Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by Ms. Lynda Atkins.
Windsor Castle
Dame Charlotte Manley was received by The King this afternoon upon relinquishing her appointment as Chapter Clerk, College of St. George, Windsor Castle.
The King, Colonel-in-Chief, Grenadier Guards, this afternoon visited the 1st Battalion at Lille Barracks, Artillery Road, Aldershot, and was received by the Commanding Officer (Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Spencer-Smith).
His Majesty attended a Reception in the Officers' Mess before meeting members of The King's Company, escorted by Major Benedict Tracey (Captain of The King's Company).
His Majesty subsequently presented the Company Commander's Award and was graciously pleased to address His Company.
Kensington Palace
