Kensington Palace

The Duke of Gloucester, Deputy Colonel-in-Chief, The Royal Logistic Corps, this morning attended the Conductor Parchment Ceremony at the Royal Logistic Corps Museum, Connaught Road, Worthy Down, Kings Worthy, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire (Mr. Nigel Atkinson).

His Royal Highness this afternoon officially opened the Kingfisher Suite at Trinity Winchester, Bradbury House, Durngate Terrace, Winchester, Hampshire.

The Duke of Gloucester, Royal Colonel, 6th Battalion The Rifles, afterwards visited the Rifleman's Museum, Peninsula Barracks, Romsey Road, Winchester.

Buckingham Palace

The King, Patron, the Red Squirrel Survival Trust, this morning visited the Animal and Plant Health Agency, York Biotech Campus, Sand Hutton, York, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of North Yorkshire (Mrs. Johanna Ropner), the Chairman of the Animal and Plant Health Agency (Miss Elizabeth Buchanan), the Chief Executive of Fera Science Limited (Dr. Andrew Swift) and the Head of the Agency's National Wildlife Management Centre (Dr. Julie Lane).

His Majesty, escorted by the Head of the National Wildlife Management Centre, toured the Squirrel Research Centre and met scientists and researchers involved in conservation initiatives to support the endangered red squirrel population in the United Kingdom.

His Majesty was briefed on the use of a specialist feeding programme and feeding devices, before meeting representatives of red squirrel conservation groups and volunteers.

The King, Patron, Macmillan Cancer Support, this afternoon visited York Hospital, Wigginton Road, York, and was received by the Chairman of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (Mr. Martin Barkley) and the Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support (Mrs. Gemma Peters).

His Majesty, escorted by Miss Clare Smith (Chief Executive of York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust) and the Chief Executive of Macmillan Cancer Support, visited the site of the redeveloped Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Cancer Centre, viewing the Magnolia Centre and the Cancer Centre's Garden, and meeting patients, clinicians, volunteers and members of York Hospital staff.

By command of The King, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Douangmany Gnotsyoudom at 49 Porchester Terrace, London W2, this morning in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as Ambassador from the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the Court of St. James's.

His Royal Highness today visited Thomas Dudley Limited, 295 Birmingham New Road, Dudley, and was received by Mr. Nicholas Venning (Deputy Lieutenant of West Midlands).

St. James's Palace

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and His Majesty's Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic (His Excellency Mr. Matthew Lodge), today carried out the following engagements in Crete.

Her Royal Highness this morning visited Firkas Fortress and Maritime Museum of Crete, Old Venetian Port of Chania, Akti Kountourioti, Chania.

The Princess Royal afterwards attended the Official Doxology to commemorate the Eighty Fifth Anniversary of the Battle of Crete at Chania Metropolitan Church, Chalidon, Chania.

Her Royal Highness subsequently attended a Civic Flag Parade and Royal Air Force Display to commemorate the Eighty Fifth Anniversary of the Battle of Crete at Chania Harbour, Markou, Chania.

The Princess Royal, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this afternoon arrived at Heathrow Airport, London, from Greece.

Lieutenant Colonel Catherine Skinner and Captain Fergus Lupton were in attendance.

Her Royal Highness this afternoon attended a Service of Remembrance and laid a wreath at the Royal Air Force Memorial, Maleme.

The Princess Royal, President, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, later attended the Eighty Fifth Anniversary of the Battle of Crete Commemoration Service and laid a wreath at Souda Bay Cemetery.

Her Royal Highness this evening visited the Tomb of Eleftherios Venizelos (noted Greek Statesman) at Profitis Ilias Hill, Akrotiri, Chania.

The Princess Royal afterwards attended a Reception given by His Majesty's Ambassador to the Hellenic Republic at the Grand Arsenal, Chania.

The King today received the Council for Sustainable Business.

His Majesty, President, Royal Shakespeare Company, and Patron, Royal Shakespeare Theatre, this evening attended a performance of "the Tempest" at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, Waterside, Stratford-upon-Avon, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire (Mr. Timothy Cox), the Co-Directors of the Royal Shakespeare Company (Mr. Daniel Evans and Ms. Tamara Harvey) and Councillor Samantha McNaught Barrow (Mayor of Stratford-upon-Avon).

The Duke of Edinburgh, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this morning and this afternoon held Receptions in the garden of Buckingham Palace for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Award.

The Bands of His Majesty's Royal Marines Portsmouth and the Royal Air Force Regiment played selections of music during the day.
