The King and Queen, accompanied by The Prince William, Duke of Rothesay and The Duke of Edinburgh, this morning attended a Service in St. Giles' Cathedral for the Installation of Professor Sir James McDonald as a Knight of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.
Their Majesties and Their Royal Highnesses were received at St. Giles' Cathedral by the Chancellor of the Thistle (the Duke of Buccleuch and Queensberry), the Dean of the Thistle (the Very Reverend Professor David Fergusson) and the Minister of St. Giles' (the Reverend Dr. Scott Rennie).
Master Robin Trotter (Page of Honour to The King) was in attendance.
A Guard of Honour was mounted at the West Door by The King's Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers with the Colours of the Royal Company, under the command of Captain, Lieutenant Colonel Johnny Stewart, and accompanied by the Band of The Royal Regiment of Scotland.
The King and Queen gave a Luncheon Party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse for the Knights of the Most Ancient and Most Noble Order of the Thistle.

Lady Elish Angiolini LT (Lord High Commissioner to the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland) was received by The King this afternoon and reported on the recent proceedings of the General Assembly.
The King, Colonel-in-Chief, afterwards unveiled a statue in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, to mark the Twentieth Anniversary of The Royal Regiment of Scotland and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost) and the Colonel of the Regiment (Major General Robin Lindsay).
His Majesty was received with a Royal Salute and addressed the Parade.
The King subsequently attended a Reception for serving and retired members of the Regiment and their families, and those involved in the commission and construction of the statue.
Later, Colonel Angus Loudon, winner of the annual shooting event of The King's Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers, was presented to His Majesty at the Palace of Holyroodhouse and received The King's Prize.

The King afterwards held a Reception in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse to mark the Three Hundred and Fiftieth Anniversary of The King's Body Guard for Scotland, Royal Company of Archers.

The King this morning was received in the garden of the Palace of Holyroodhouse by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of the City of Edinburgh (Councillor Robert Aldridge, the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost) and members of the City of Edinburgh Council, when the Rt. Hon. the Lord Provost surrendered to The King the Keys of the City, which His Majesty returned to him.
A Guard of Honour found by Balaclava Company, 5th Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland, under the command of Major Thomas Blair was mounted in the garden.
