The Prince of Wales, Founder and President, the Earthshot Prize, this morning received Mr. Jesper Brodin (Chairman) at Windsor Castle.

His Royal Highness, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, afterwards held a Meeting related to the "Homewards" programme.

St. James's Palace

The Duke of Edinburgh this morning visited Royal Grammar School Newcastle, Eskdale Terrace, Newcastle upon Tyne, to mark the School's Quincentenary and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Tyne and Wear (Ms. Lucy Winskell).

His Royal Highness, Trustee, The Duke of Edinburgh's Award, this afternoon met young people participating in the Award at Teesdale Community Resources Hub, Shaw Bank, Barnard Castle, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of County Durham (Mr. Michael Butterwick).

The Duke of Edinburgh, Patron, the Production Guild of Great Britain, later visited Production Park, Lidgate Crescent, South Kirkby, Pontefract, and was received by His Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of West Yorkshire (Professor Adeeba Malik).

The King held a Council at 10.30 a.m..

There were present: the Rt. Hon. Sir Alan Campbell MP (Lord President), the Lord Hanson of Flint (Minister of State, Lords Minister), the Baroness Smith of Basildon (Lord Privy Seal and Leader of the House of Lords) and the Baroness Smith of Malvern (Minister for Skills and Minister for Women and Equalities).

Mr. Daniel Jarvis MP was sworn in as a member of His Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.

The Rt. Hon. Daniel Jarvis MP received the Seals of Office as Secretary of State for Defence, took the Oath of Office and kissed hands on appointment.

Mr. Richard Tilbrook was in attendance as Clerk of the Council.

The Rt. Hon. Sir Clive Alderton (Principal Private Secretary to Their Majesties) was in attendance.

The Rt. Hon. Sir Alan Campbell MP had an audience of His Majesty before the Council.

The King, accompanied by The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent, today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.

The Duchess of Edinburgh and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were present.

The Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell and the Lord Burnett of Maldon were present.

The following Knights Companions were present: the Duke of Abercorn, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Rt. Hon. Sir John Major, the Lord Luce, the Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, Marshal of the Royal Air Force the Lord Stirrup, the Lord King of Lothbury, the Lord Shuttleworth, Lady Mary Fagan, the Viscount Brookeborough, the Marquess of Salisbury, Lady Mary Peters, the Baroness Amos, the Rt. Hon. Sir Tony Blair, the Baroness Ashton of Upholland, the Lord Patten of Barnes, the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach.

The Officers of the Order were: the Bishop of Winchester (Prelate), the Dean of Windsor (Register), Mr. David White (Garter King of Arms), Lieutenant General Edward Davis (Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod) and Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave (Secretary).

The Hon. Alfred Wellesley (Page of Honour) and Mr. Charles van Cutsem (Page of Honour) were in attendance.

His Majesty invested the Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell, and the Lord Burnett of Maldon with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

The King later gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent were present.

An Installation Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon at which the Lord Hennessy of Nympsfield, the Lord O'Donnell and the Lord Burnett of Maldon were installed as Knights Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty in the Chapel.

St. James's Palace

The Princess Royal, President, The Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conferences, accompanied by Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, this evening held a Seventieth Anniversary Dinner at St. James's Palace.
