The King and Queen gave a Luncheon Party for the Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter at which The Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester and The Duke of Kent were present.

A Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon.

Detachments of His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard and the Military Knights of Windsor were on duty.

Buckingham Palace

His Majesty was present at The King's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade this morning at which The King's Colour of Number 7 Company Coldstream Guards was Trooped.

The King was accompanied by The Queen (Colonel, Grenadier Guards), The Duke of Edinburgh (Colonel, Scots Guards), The Prince of Wales (Colonel, Welsh Guards), The Princess of Wales (Colonel, Irish Guards) and The Princess Royal (Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons).

His Majesty was attended by Lieutenant General Sir Edward Smyth-Osbourne (Colonel, The Life Guards), Lieutenant General Sir James Bucknall (Colonel, Coldstream Guards) and Major General James Bowder (Major General Commanding Household Division).

The Lord Ashton (Master of the Horse), Colonel Toby Browne, Lieutenant Colonel Stephen Segrave (Mounted Equerries in Waiting), Lieutenant Colonel Michael Vernon, Captain Hugh Scrope (Dismounted Equerries in Waiting) and Colonel Mark Berry (The Life Guards, Silver Stick in Waiting) were in attendance.

Colonel Guy Stone (Chief of Staff), Lieutenant Colonel Ralph Griffin (Silver Stick Adjutant), Colonel Jeremy Bagshaw (Regimental Adjutant, Coldstream Guards) and the Household Division Staff were present.

The Procession was led by Lieutenant Colonel Charles Foinette, Coldstream Guards (Brigade Major Household Division).

The troops on Parade, under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Storm Green, Coldstream Guards (Field Officer in Brigade Waiting), received The King with a Royal Salute.

Prince George of Wales, Princess Charlotte of Wales and Prince Louis of Wales, The Duchess of Edinburgh, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, The Duke of Kent, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and other Members of the Royal Family drove to Horse Guards Parade and witnessed The King's Birthday Parade.

On the conclusion of the Parade, His Majesty drove in a carriage back to Buckingham Palace at the head of The King's Guard, preceded by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery, under the command of Major Luke Wadman, the Massed Mounted Bands of the Household Cavalry, the Sovereign's Escort of the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, under the command of Major Charles Onslow (The Blues and Royals, Royal Horse Guards and 1st Dragoons), and the Massed Bands of the Guards Division.

On arrival at Buckingham Palace, The King's Guard entered the Forecourt and formed up opposite the Old Guard, the remaining Guards marching past His Majesty. The Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment and The King's Troop, Royal Horse Artillery ranked past The King.

His Majesty, from Buckingham Palace, witnessed a fly-past by aircraft of the Royal Air Force, led by Wing Commander Andrew Watson, to mark the official celebration of The King's Birthday.

Royal Salutes were fired today by The King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery in Green Park and from the Tower of London Saluting Battery by the Honourable Artillery Company, under the command of Captain Karl Mackenzie.

Windsor Castle

The Lord Ashton of Hyde was received by His Majesty this morning upon his appointment as Master of the Horse.

The King and Queen honoured Ascot Races with their presence today.

The King, accompanied by The Queen, The Prince of Wales, The Duke of York, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Princess Royal, The Duke of Gloucester, and The Duke of Kent today held a Chapter of the Most Noble Order of the Garter in the Throne Room, Windsor Castle.

The Duchess of Edinburgh and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence were present.

The Duchess of Gloucester and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach were present.

The following Knights Companion were present: the Duke of Abercorn, the Lord Butler of Brockwell, the Rt. Hon. His Majesty invested The Duchess of Gloucester with the Insignia of a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach with the Insignia of a Knight Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

An Installation Service was held in St. George's Chapel this afternoon at which The Duchess of Gloucester was installed as a Lady of the Most Noble Order of the Garter and the Lord Lloyd-Webber, the Lord Kakkar and Air Chief Marshal the Lord Peach were installed as Knights Companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms and The King's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard were on duty in the Chapel.

The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were represented by Mrs. Angus Galletley.

The Princess Royal was represented by Mrs. Susanna Cross.

Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy was represented by Mrs. Diane Duke.

Buckingham Palace

The following members of His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms were received by The King this morning: the Lord Ashton of Hyde who delivered up his Stick of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Captain and the Baroness Williams of Trafford who received her Stick of Office upon her appointment as Captain of His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms.

The King was present at the Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for Mr. Robert Kime which was held at St. James's Church, 197 Piccadilly, London W1, this afternoon.

The Queen Consort this afternoon held an Awards Ceremony at Buckingham Palace for The Queen's Commonwealth Essay Competition.

The King was represented by The Duke of Kent at the Service of Thanksgiving for Colonel Thomas Hall (former Lieutenant of His Majesty's Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms) which was held at the Abbey Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, High Street, Dorchester on Thames, Oxfordshire, today.

By command of His Majesty, Mr. Alistair Harrison (Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps) called upon His Excellency Mr. Ellison Greenslade at 10 Chesterfield Street, London W1, this afternoon in order to bid farewell to His Excellency upon relinquishing his appointment as High Commissioner for the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in London.

Windsor Castle

The Lord Robertson of Port Ellen was received by The Queen today via video link and delivered up his Gold Badge and Chain upon relinquishing his appointment as Chancellor of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.

The Baroness Ashton of Upholland was received by The Queen via video link upon relinquishing her appointment as King of Arms of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George and delivered up to Her Majesty the Insignia of Office.

The Queen handed to The Baroness Ashton of Upholland the Gold Badge and Chain upon her appointment as Chancellor of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.

Sir Mark Lyall Grant was received by The Queen via video link when Her Majesty handed to him the Insignia of Office upon his appointment as King of Arms of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George.

Mr. Thomas Trotter was received by The Queen when Her Majesty presented him with The Queen's Medal for Music.

Ms. Judith Weir (Master of The Queen's Music) was present.

The Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson MP (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of Her Majesty via telephone this evening.

The Prince of Wales, on behalf of The Queen, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this morning.

The Princess Royal, on behalf of Her Majesty, held an Investiture at Windsor Castle this afternoon.

The Queen was represented by the Lord Ashton of Hyde (formerly Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty) at the Service of Thanksgiving for the Life of the Rt. Hon. Dame Cheryl Gillan (formerly Secretary of State for Wales) which was held in St. Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey, London SW1, today.

Buckingham Palace

The Rt. Hon. Boris Johnson (Prime Minister and First Lord of the Treasury) had an audience of The Queen this morning.

Her Majesty later visited the Royal British Legion Industries Extra Care Facility, Appleton Lodge, 14 Milner Road, Aylesford, to celebrate the Charity's Centenary and was received by Her Majesty's Lord-Lieutenant of Kent (the Viscount De L'Isle) and the Chairman of Royal British Legion Industries (Mr. Stephen Kingsman).

The Queen toured the new Care Facility, escorted by Mr. Stephen Sherry (Chief Executive), met residents and their families, other residents and local schoolchildren reading and further residents carrying out various activities, before meeting trustees and supporters and officially opening the new Care Facility.

Her Majesty this afternoon visited the Royal British Legion Industries Centenary Village at Victory House, Richard Corben Way, Aylesford, and viewed an apartment and plans for the future development of the Centenary Village before meeting Friends and volunteers, trustees and staff.

The Queen placed a commemorative time capsule in the garden of the village.

Afterwards Her Majesty was entertained to Luncheon by the Chairman.

The Queen held a Council at 6.00 p.m..

Miss Amanda Milling MP was received by Her Majesty upon her appointment as Treasurer of the Household when Her Majesty handed to her her Wand of Office.

The Rt. Hon. Mark Spencer MP was received by The Queen when he delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Comptroller of the Household.

Mr. Jeremy Quin MP was received by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Comptroller of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

Mr. Craig Whittaker MP was received by The Queen and delivered up his Wand of Office upon relinquishing his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household.

Mr. Stuart Andrew MP was received by Her Majesty upon his appointment as Vice-Chamberlain of the Household when Her Majesty handed to him his Wand of Office.

The Lord Ashton of Hyde was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Captain of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms.

The Lord Bethell was received by The Queen upon his appointment as Lord in Waiting to Her Majesty.

The Baroness Berridge and The Baroness Bloomfield of Hinton Waldrist were received by The Queen upon their appointment as Baronesses in Waiting to Her Majesty.

Mr. Stuart Andrew MP (Vice-Chamberlain of the Household) was received in audience by The Queen and presented an Address from the House of Commons to which Her Majesty was graciously pleased to make reply.
